Cheers. Now that I know 'just one more day' equates to 24 minutes I'll not only be knackered after letting another one go by, but also wracked with precisely the right amount of guilt. :)

Not been following this and I'm on a crap connection (EG app barely working), can someone tell me why this has just 1 star on Amazon?

This isn't my city, but probably the best user-made one I've seen.

@Geesh awful awful launch and a very buggy game, should get better. If you buy now you get a free game from EA...yada yada

@Geesh Long story. I'll try and post some links but basically the game was not what many people were told it would be or what they wanted and it didn't have the best launch of an online game if we're honest. EA skimped on the server bill up front, the servers could not cope, features were disabled by Maxxis to try to alleviate some strain so people went to Amazon and the like and gladly gave out reviews for the game. Unfortunately they were all 1 star reviews.

It's a bit ricketty at the moment. Some people have had very few issues and others have had all the issues. Most of the EG group seem to have had few issues compared to others.

I'm sure it will improve and they're busy working away at it but the PR side has been terrible which hasn't helped.

    @Geesh Pre-patch fire kicks.

Actually, it's pretty much the diametric opposite of the Darkfail neckbeard rage. It's a good game, the bugs and problems have been blown out of all proportion by the internet hate machine (imho obv.).

I'm enjoying it. The game is really addictive even with its problems that I hope will be ironed out of the next few months. One thing I do wish for, I think the city maps are a bit small. I hope they double the size or at least make them 50% bigger, but I'm not sure they can do this without building more regions?

I have a question for the SimCity players. From reading this thread it appears that this game may not have massive legs. You all seem to have more or less finished your cities at least once, so does it have some sort of end game? And when players inevitably move onto newer games and let their cities languish what happens to the players left behind? In a few months time is everyone going to be on empty regions, surrounded by husk cities?

@Jazzy_Geoff Its not like the old SimCity where you would make one city and continually hone it to perfection.

Any abandoned cities can be reclaimed and re-let by the person running that area. (Ask teamHAM)

There will always be a community of players around it, so you just join in a region that has players or start a region and invite people.

Or you can always run all the cities in a region yourself.

What? That's how small the city space is ?! Shit.

    @El_MUERkO

I think 5's more about getting the maximum you can from a small space. Making leaderboards and the like more important.

that's so aggravating. that seems like the absolute antithesis of what I would want from this game. In some ways it looks so amazing, those screenshots are incredible. until you notice the scale and then the suspension of disbelief is shattered. Still so tempted though lol.

It seems like they started to go the other way starting at 4. 4's cities were considerably smaller (imo) as well, but this goes even further.

5's space is about a quarter(?) of SC3000. It's a different strategy, but you're obviously not going to get nearly the same playtime from one town.

I'm with you Geoff, but by all accounts there are several more problems that reveal the rotten core of this shiny looking apple.

It took them two weeks to partially fix the traffic problem. I reckon eight to twelve more weeks before the traffic and RCI issues are fully fixed.

The point of 5 is that you manage multiple cities in single player if you want, or just a single small one.

Leaving aside the whatever vision EA has for this game and how it should be played and the restrictions that they have in place to support to do you think the engine is capable of running a city say four or five times larger than the present size, perhaps the entire size of a region?

Yes. I would be very surprised if the city size isn't increased at some point in the future.

The Space Centre just caught a virus and I had to ship 2000 computers to it in 24 hours
What would have happened if I hadn't imported the computers and sent them to the centre? Can great works collapse and crumble?

Ha @kingcrowbar, your city of crime and death (and great shopping for some reason) is no match for my mighty police copters :)

Maxis dev has suggested that this is the case

How many tourists did your launch pull in and can you arrange additional launches or are they automatic/ a one off?
    Tourists?
Bugger all :-( Think it may be down to having low education.

Launches are automatic and repeat every so often.

I think this game looks fantastic.
To say i want to start a game up and get stuck into building my own industrial themed city is an understatement. I envy everyone in this thread who is playing it. Even if you are getting a few bugs here and there.

I don't have a PC only a brand new macbook pro :( Im confident it will be able to run it so as soon as this gets released on mac then im all over it like flies on shit.
Hopefully the mac launch will be smoother and less buggy then the PC launch so every cloud eh. But the wait for a mac version is going to be a killer.

    Some info on Space Centres
Ta for that, but none of it seems to apply to my city :-(

    Mayors can schedule rocket launches,
Where?, I can't see any controls that let me do that.

Rocket launches are scheduled similarly to events at the Expo Center or Pro Stadium, drawing in tons of tourists to the connected cities eager to witness the launch
How? Clicking on the Space Centre has no effect. No controls on the great work page, just a spinning disc and a smiley face that tells me that I'm benefitting to the tune of 0 Tourist :-(

An increase in tourism boosts the profits of your city’s commercial buildings,
Nope, my minimal commercial are closing down due to a lack of trade.

:D Despite my best attempts to drive people out while I try and remodel since taking over, they just keep on coming. Godzilla, 20% taxes, no services and probably 50000 homeless has managed to bring in 3.5 million Simoleons.

Maybe they come to see the forests I've planted in all the lakes of faeces.
