    What is all the hoopla about? Is't it just Dropbox but with a more flamboyant owner? What am I missing?

    As far as I understand it, there are two big selling points :

    * no one can ever see the files you've uploaded. They're encrypted locally. So you could be uploading family pics, your mp3 collection, or Skyfall. All of which can be shared, if you give someone a key. Kim cannot be held accountable, and he can never divulge what you used Mega for, because he can't know.

    * 50gb free space

    When I said shared with a key, I believe it's as simple as giving someone a link via email.
