Registered 20 years agoOne thing I hate the most about this show is how the characters treat the done as a supernatural phenomenon, surely they're intelligent enough to realise that it is simply a higher intelligence at play -

I read the book when it was new, but this is quite different. -

It's strange how everyone seems to have accepted that the Dome wants this and it wants them to do that but no-one has actually asked why it is being so bloody cryptic in the first place! I mean if it wasn't for certain characters discovering certain things and doing specific things at the appropriate time then absolutely everyone inside the dome would have been dead after a few days (the entire two seasons only span a period of two weeks).

Maybe that's the purpose of the egg to test people but if it so intelligent that it do all these amazing things then why does it not communicate directly what it wants? The answer to that is that there would not be a series if it did but, and it may be just me that thinks this, the series does give the impression that the writers are just making things up as they go along (though the premise for the show obviously comes from Stephen King's short story).
Also, why does everyone keep referring to the dome and not the egg as being the cause of everything that's happened? Even Big Jim is at it...and why would the dome even listen to his requests when he has murdered 3 or 4 people in cold blood??? If I was the 'dome' then I'd have disintegrated him with my alien laser ray last season!
Then again this a series where people seem to forget/forgive others for killing people alarmingly quickly so maybe the egg has segregated them from the rest of humanity because they're so cold and inhuman!

Registered 14 years ago@Razz Read it, the book and the show have no relationship to each other, apart from the characters, the storyline is now completely different. -

I'm pretty sure 896 pages doesn't count as a short story, even by Stephen King standards, unless you only had one word on each page. -

Registered 18 years agoWhat I find funny is the timeline. Junior was jealously chaining up his girlfriend in his Fritzl dungeon in an obsessive attempt to 'protect' her. She then escapes and gets killed by his uncle on the off chance he interpreted some cryptic voodoo paintings correctly. Now junior's boinking some dead girl who emerged from the local lake while his murdered ex is probably still warm - all in the space of two weeks.
And that's just the good guys... -

Sorry, my bad, I thought the series was based on one of his short stories. Must be thinking of something else.

Not only that, but Junior has gone from deranged/crazed obssessive, someone who actually locked up his girlfriend and still expected her to love him, to being Mr. Nice Guy surprisingly quickly.

Oh and lest I forget, I was pretty shocked at Rebecca's death. I found her character a bit annoyingly, this know-it-all who just happened to appear in the series because the writers needed someone intelligent enough to solve The Big Problem each week but I never expected Big Jim to actually kill her (even though he had threatened to before). Then again Rebecca was stupid enough to stand there still holding the morphine syringe so maybe she deserved it. But who is going to solve all the science problems next season now she's dead? -

Registered 15 years agoWell after that last one I'm done. Terrible acting, effects and just completely non sensical claptrap.
One scene Big Jim shoots a television and says,
'Nothing good on TV these days anyway'
YOU FUCKING SAID IT MATE! -

Registered 10 years agoHow this got past the first season, I will never know. To get to season 3 is just unfathomable too me seeing as it sounds like it's got no better. The only reason I stayed with it that long was for the two fit girls of which I now hear at least one of thems dead so that's that. -

Registered 16 years agoIt's not the sort of show where people being dead means they're dead. It's also not the sort of show where things like that make sense in the slightest, and at this stage I'm not sure if they're supposed to.
I still like it though, but if I was recommending a "people stuck in one place and weird stuff happening" show, I'd go for Wayward Pines. It's done more in 5 episodes than Dome has in the 20,000 it feels like they've shown so far. -

Registered 17 years agoThe opening episode of season 3 was completely bizarre but I kind of expected it after the way the previous season ended. I did not however expect it to turn into The Matrix (kind of). It had me completely confused for the first half hour then it started to make more sense. However, what doesn't is why Melanie (Barbie's sister...or is she?) is doing all of this. Are the people of Chester's Mills just Duracell batteries for the alien entity that created the dome?

Registered 18 years agoThe first episode of the new season was horrendous. I know it's always been a bit shit but in a good way, that episode was bad everything, felt like scenes were missing the way actions happened. I'll give it another episode or two. -

I seriously have no idea how this show has managed to have 3 sessons when much better shows imho like Forever & Odyssey have been cancelled after only 1 season. I didn't even get through the whole of season 1 of Under The Dome.
