Registered 18 years agoMust read the book now so that I can become a bookwanker and spoil the shit out of the TV series by accidentally reveal stuff by my noncomital comments.
That looked kid of cool though. I've been looking for something me and the missus can watch together. -

Registered 12 years agoJeff Fahey! Fucking w00t, I've not seen him since Lost and he generally adds value, it's a pretty decent cast actually.

Where was Jeff Daniels? I didn't see him in that and he's not in the cast list. Do you mean Jeff Fahey? Didn't know he was in Lost. He's ace.
Anyway, this looks great. And for the sake of bookwankery, it does appear like they're changing things from the book a fair deal. -

Registered 12 years agoYes, it's absolutely Jeff Fahey. Just had a bit of wine and a toke, so I'm all swimmy in the head!
He played an airline/chopper pilot in Lost and he was one of the coolest things in it. You have to wade through a few seasons before you meet him for real though.

Watching Lawnmower Man followed by Planet Terror is quite the interesting experience for Jeff Fahey fans. -

Registered 17 years agoLooks kind of interesting. Where do they go with it though? It seems quite a small area under the dome so how long would they have food for? It seems like the story would have a limited run really. Still could be good if it's a mini series type thing. -
It's being advertised as a mini-series here, so I presume it'll have a full conclusion dealio rather than a Jericho-esque meandering. -

Registered 16 years agoJust read its 13 parts, which is nice. -
Book cunt haters rejoice. It's been confirmed that the series will be radically different from the book. The ending's different, along with the entire motivation for the dome, the characters are different (Big Jim apparently isn't the main bad guy), even the timeline's going to be different (the book was about a week, the mini-series covers at least a fortnight). -

Registered 12 years agoIt's not a mini series now, is it? They're hoping to get a second season. I'm sure I read that somewhere. -

Registered 11 years agoI really do not know why I am surprisingly curious about the TV programme when I thought the book was 900+ pages of terrible fluff.
They'll surely take out the rape part of the book, hmm?
Glad this series has a different ending though. -

Registered 12 years agoLots and lots changed for this apparently. The reviews are pretty good too, looking forward to it. -

Registered 20 years agoOo, this starts tonight, doesn't it? It's a great premise, hopefully the writer of the TV show can do an ending and make it all the way great. -
Very different to the book thus far (to the extent that I doubt we'll need a book spoilers thread), and it's only halfway through the first episode. -

Think of it as an adult/mature version of The Simpsons Movie ... albeit without the 'popping over to Alaska' part.

It's pretty good. Hard to tell from the first episode though, as it was literally all setup and mystery.
It, probably unsurprisingly, reminded me a lot of Jericho. And we all know how that turned out. -

Sorry, I'm still playing the self-explanatory-show-titles game.

Anyway, book was crap. This looks better. Fortunately Australia is getting it aired at roughly the same time as the US. I'll be interested to see how much of a dent that makes on torrent downloads, since Aussies are some of the scurviest bunch around.

@meme
For some random reason I watched the pilot of Jericho the other day and this isn't remotely as bad as that!
Rather enjoyed it, really. I suspect people are going to be disappointed when they realise it's not about the mystery of the dome and more about how a whole town full of people react when they're under stress and can't get away from each other. The only character I found a bit annoying and typical "King TV adaptation" were the obviously psycho guy and the girl he locked up.
