I miss the days of violent mainstream movies. Everything is like a wet fart nowadays.
Terminators can only throw people around. It is a programming error.

I remember John Connor calling someone a cunt for walking in front of the camera. Not sure if they're going to address that unresolved plot point in this film.

In this film, Skynet attempt to take on a human form, but John Connor manages to corrupt the code by inserting a vagina-sequence into the matrix. Thus Skynet becomes a cunt.

John Connor then goes on holiday and tries to take nudey snaps of Sarah Connor (sicko) but Skynet keeps wandering into his shot.

Movies should be about the human characters more.
    Fair comment.

I also think Alien should never had relied on Sigourney Weaver after the second one. The series is called Alien, not fucking Ripley Again.
    Oh.

Yeah, similarly the series is called Terminator, not fucking John Connor Again.

Aww, Die Hard 3 was good fun. 4 and 5 were awful.

Terminator is all about John and Sarah Connor. Try to look beyond the title of the movie (In Die Hard 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Bruce didn't even die!) ;-)

I don't understand - ubergine you say you want more human characters, then say the best thing about T2 and T4 were the Terminators?

And you can't have a Terminator film without 3 things - a Terminator, John Connor and Sarah Connor. Even if they're not physically there, the storyline has to involve them or their actions. Otherwise it's just a robot action film. Similarly with Die Hard - sure you could have it without John Maclane, but then what's the point of calling it Die Hard? It's just Another Action Film.

I don't see why you couldn't have a terminator film with out Jesus Connor.
Well, he's the head of the human resistance. The whole reason the Terminator gets sent back etc. Suppose you could tell a story in a different part of the universe, but if it is to be at all connected to previous films his presence/impact on story has to be in there.

There's been a few plot details revealed by the Austrian Oak himself. I've got to admit, it does seem rather good.

Terminator isn't a story that works well with sequels. In the first one they talk about how they destroyed the time device after Kyle Reece goes through. In the second you just assume that they didn't or John just doesn't tell Reese he's sending another (better) protector to the 90's too.

However it becomes a bit of a joke when more and more keep getting sent through time. The amount of attempts even make Skynet look incompetent and not much of a threat. Besides Judgement Day was 1997 - it has passed and they now have to make excuses for the date moving, the T-800 getting noticeably older, why more than two Terminators were sent back and the entire message of "the future is not set" being changed to "Judgement Day is inevitable."

I just don't know about this one - I'm confident that it will be at least better than Terminator : Salvation. Considering that was written by the duo who wrote the Catwoman movie and directed by McG, this one immediately has an advantage IMO.

Alan Taylor has an impressive CV and the lead writer wrote Shutter Island, so who knows?.

I'm a bit sceptical about Arnie playing an aged terminator, why they can't just airbrush him in Post-Production (like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan in X3) i don't know???

    / Cautiously optimistic

Could do a spin-off with other characters, yeah, but it wouldn't be a 'proper' Terminator film in my eyes. Although the franchise has been fucked over so badly at this point, a spin-off like that might actually be the best thing for it!

    A) They could just build more time machines
    B) Judgement Day did happen at the end of T3 remember

The T800 getting older is a problem, yeah.

To be fair, Shutter Island was based on a book, so it wasnt' as if he wrote it all from scratch. And the deaging in X3 was fucking terrible.

"Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton". Apparently it's tissue that ages over time, the same as humans. Which is one of the plot points.

X3 is 8 years old now, so i'd like to think the tech would be a bit better these days.

The writer wrote the screenplay for Shutter Island (deepest apologies for not explaining) and i thought the screenplay (and the movie) was excellent.

Just trying to get some optimism going i guess....

Yeah I know, we were talking about it on the last page. It's pretty weak reasoning I think. He'll still move like an old man.

    :D

He may have written the screenplay, but it was based off a book by Dennis Lehane, so he didn't come up with it all himself, just adapted it (not that adapting something is easy, just saying).

I'm actually cautiously optimistic for this film too, despite how I'm coming across! You're right, it's a far stronger team behind this than Salvation. Based on Arnie's recent output though, he's possibly the weakest link in this...

Ah, I missed that. Arnie has said that there will be a younger terminator in the film.

Cautiously optimistic seems to be the best approach here.

Edit: Slightly off tangent here but if Paul Verhoven comes back to direct the next Conan film, that would just be fucking fantastic!
