    Any Centre Parks fans here?

Never been, but looking to book some time in Easter. Problem is, we don't drive. Doomed idea or not? We were toying with the idea of taking the dog with us as well, but sounds pretty implausable.

Yes, it's great if you have kids. And probably better if you have a car, though that's not essential. I'm not sure I'd bother going if I didn't have kids tbh.

Don't drive or can't drive? The whole entry/exit procedure is predicated on you being in a car but I suppose you could do all that in a taxi.

Would probably be cheaper to hire a car, though.

Can't. I've never had a driving lesson, and missus failed her last attempt a while back.

I thought most parks had some sort of public transport solution as well though? Though may have been misled with that.

Once you're in the chalet you don't need a car, the parks aren't that big. You can hire bikes. Can you ride a bike?

Getting to the chalet with all your shit might be more tricky without a car though, as Nick says.

I went to Woburn Center Parcs twice this year. Stayed in the hotel though not a lodge.
I really like it, but if you're not self catering it's going to be fucking expensive.

The activities can also add up but that all depends what you want to do. We didn't really do much the second time apart from squash and badminton. The swimming complex is great and the slides were pretty damn good. It's also free.

You get given a wristband as your door key which is also linked to booking stuff and you can also link your bank card to it so you don't need to carry money.

There were loads of people with dogs there and they're very welcomed from what I saw.

Overall it was very relaxing, very clean and the staff are really very good.

I was at the the Lake District one a few month ago and yeah it was pretty good. Very good pool and riding about the place was pretty cool. Nothing amazing and kind of over priced but we enjoyed it.

Had some very happy holidays there when my kids were little.
I wouldn't bother without a car or kids though.

I don't think you can get onsite unless you arrive in an X3 with a bike rack on the back.
I think it's in the small print somewhere.

Whenever I hear Centre Parks I think of Zafira's and Picasso's.

I found it great without kids, still plenty of things to do.
The restaurants are all good if a little dear, I spent far too much in the Pancake House :)

The spa is pretty good too if you like saunas.

I suppose if you're craving an activity holiday it would be a decent taster menu.

Yeah, it'd be a chalet we get. Or lodge. Wooded bungalow. Whatever those things are.

Figured we'd be fine when we're in, it's just the getting in that's the problem. Other half is a teacher so limited to term break holidays, and not looking to go overseas this year. We've never done centre parcs, but are fairly active (though I'd likely need to extricate her from the spa with a crowbar after a few days).

Thought it was a good idea on paper but more I look at it, no car = no chance. Hrmm.

Don't know which one you're thinking about but Woburn has a meet and greet shuttle service thing at the local train station.

If you have to go in half term, I hope you like other people's kids. I don't mean in that way of course. But the place will be overrun. And they'll all drive X3s as Al says because it's too expensive for the plebs at half term (in the UK parks at least).

The kids probably won't drive X3s.

I was pricing up center parcs for summer last year and it worked out cheaper to fly to Berlin and go here:

Yeah we're going to one of the Dutch CPs in February. Went to one in northern France (via the ferry) last year and it was great, and about a third of the price including travel.

They're a little more worn around the edges (the UK ones are generally much newer), but they're still good.

    This.
Center Parcs felt like something of a rip off.

Also, I had a 320D Touring at the time, with no bike rack. Got in because I had a SuperDry t-shirt on.
