Knackered today, no real reason. Much as I hate to waste a nice Saturday I'm really looking forward to going back to bed.

I once used a Henry Hoover to vac thick ropes of red-wine induced vomit off a certain now-disgraced journalist, before he was famous.

Then we pushed him out the door into the street and kinda vaguely hoped that he'd get home somehow.

But no, this was a cheap vac I've had for a good many years now and it just went pop. Just about time to get down to the local Argos for a new one.

    @challenge_hanukkah Who else?

Edit: Also, it was "Johann Hari". He was sensitive about that especially the double-n. He was also a massive twat.

Edit 2: Never mind, you fixed the spelling.

@JamboWayOh Cambridge, around 99/00-ish. I knew a few people who had posts in the Cambridge Union (note, this is not a Union) and helped them out with logistical stuff from time to time.

One night I was walking back from a LAN party, stone cold sober (I was very, very nerdy a the time) and going past the entrance to the Union when I got grabbed and asked to help out with some clean-up. The Uni Lib-Dem society had done their big piss-up that night and had left the place a state. I didn't have anything better to do so helped out.

The place was basically a disaster zone. We found the specimen in question in the gents, clearly having tried and failed to make it to a toilet so he could vomit into it. He had managed to puke everywhere, including in places where it shouldn't be physically possible to puke. Being the token sober person, I did actually make sure he was breathing and the like, but really, really didn't want to have to touch him more than that. So we got Henry out and gave him a good hoovering to get the worst of the puke off, then picked him up (wrapping our hands in towels, and heaved him out into the street. He didn't die, so I'm guessing it all worked out somehow.

The main thing about that night is that we'd done the big Uni QuakeWorld/Quake 3 vs Counter-Strike teams playoff, using Unreal Tournament as neutral ground. I was on the Counter-Strike side and we absolutely fucking owned them.

@THFourteen There was a uni server, IRC channel and everything...

Also massive drama-bombs. The QuakeWorlders hated the Quake 2ers who hated the Counter-Strikers who hated the Quake lot and so on. Then there were the TeamFortress Classic players. Everybody hated them. And the Tribes 2 lot got along with everybody.

You can use a Henry hoover with or without a bag! That's a deal maker for me!

@gammonbanter Yes, but for vomit you really want a bag in there. The alternative is not good.

I'm sure we were all "put off" "messing around" with Hoover's "in that way" after hearing "that" urban legend about a curios sort and a vacuum cleaner designed to chop up dirt before it got to the bag!

Anyone know how to stop web downloads going direct to Gdrive on Android? I recently factory reset my one plus phone and since then every download goes direct to that drive instead of my phone storage. It's proper getting on my milkers.

Chrome? Then Settings - Downloads and you can configure the location there.

Yeah checked that and it's pointing at phone storage. I think I may have a workaround for now.

24 degrees this weekend (in London), apparently. Looks like we've still got a couple of weeks left.

Oh to have a thermostat. We just wait until we're freezing our bollocks off, then put it on timer.
