Even our floods are boring. Except for that guy on here who's family drowned in 4 inches of water has anything bad happened beyond people's houses getting wet?

Wasps that hunt spiders and not just small ones, tarantulas too - quite nasty.

    High cholesterol innit.
Plus family history of heart disease.
I modified my diet for six months and my cholesterol readings dropped by 10% which is what a pharmacist told me.
After a few months on statins, with zero side effects, the levels have come down nicely.

Fucking very. Ordered a switch lite for son for xmas and used a code to get some cash off. It would not let me use the code so assumed it was on the next screen. Nope, it's ordered.

Fucks sake, cancelled that with them. Yes sir it's all cancelled.

Reordered another and this time it accepted the code for the money off. Sweet!

Email notification. Good news your order is on its way.

    Aargh!

Don't know yet if I feel better for venting but as you were. Nothing to see here.

I've stopped watching the news / reading news websites / following politics over the past few weeks and I think it's made me so much more upbeat / clueless.

I still realise that the country is completely fucked, but I don't get reminded of it every 5 minutes.

I think it's made me a bit more productive too, which is also helping my mood.

I've done the same thing over the last few months. It's brilliant! Like you say, you know everything is still basically fucked, but it's nice to not be told we're fucked about twenty times a day in some weird slow drip of rumour and speculation. 24 hour news really is the worst.

Same here. Found myself refreshing various news sites every few minutes only to be greeted another depressing tweet, another "development", another outrageous speech etc etc.

Definitely feel better since backing off.

Was on holiday last week, felt fucking great. Of course, the sun, the beaches the drink oíclock all day, but, grabbing the car from the airport and driving home with the radio on I realised itís also that I hadnít watched the news, read the various news feeds etc for days.
We decided weíd have two days off a week from that shit, but it hasnít happened yet. Itís like a big monster thatís just about to get me and I canít help but want to know how close it is. It all feels very ďstickyĒ, which I presume is exactly what they intend it to be.

I don't watch TV, which helps. No radio either.

Basically my only news sources at the moment are podcasts and The Economist on the weekend.

Could you delete the post in the other thread, so you're not encouraging more replies in there?

I'd PM you to ask, but... yeah. :)

I had a meltdown. Massive breakup from a toxic relationship, drug dependency because of self medicating for years and an ill advised go fundme to get my ass the train to uni due to said dependency and awful choices with money. Got a PS4 straight after via Very and people thought that's what I used the gofundme for.

It was a public meltdown on here and I was close to suicide but I finally got my Bipolar diagnosis and now it's being treated. However I also have ADHD and I'm waiting for a specialist for treatment.

I'm over it mostly but some of these guys can't seem to let it go, mainly because they think I'm scum now. So be it.
  • Deleted user 12 November 2019 11:25:05
I'm generally an alright kind of guy but that shit had been brewing under the surface for years.

Consider this my apology for my meltdown.
  • Deleted user 12 November 2019 11:26:01
And by suicide I mean it. Not a cry for help. I was done.

No need to feel bad for me mate, but cheers anyway. Mistakes were made but it helped me get treated so all good in the end.

I manage a writer with ADHD and they are fairly self absorbed. This is not meant as a criticism just an observation from my experience.

He is bouncing off the walls most days and can be incredibly disruptive. He also didn't know he had it until he was in his late 30s. I think it was a bit of a 'that's why I've always struggled in life' moment for them.

Hopefully you get some decent support. I don't know anything about this PS4 situation. Providing you didn't use the money raised I don't think it's a big deal. Though it's probably not good financial management to be really skint one month to the point of asking strangers for money, then buy a PS4 on credit. But I know that ADHD and being organised are binary opposites so that probably had an effect.
  • Deleted user 12 November 2019 12:44:12
Oh totally mate. The money stuff was the biggest indicator of Bipolar as I am farcically bad with money. As of this moment I've been waiting for 2 years for the Adhd specialist but it's clear I have it. It was my quack's first take but he can't treat me, it has to go to someone else.

I'm on lithium for the Bipolar but it's a bit like vaccines when only some of the population are getting inoculated. You need to treat both illnesses in tandem as they tend to feed each other.

It's been absolute hell to be honest. I don't wish this on anyone or their loved ones.

But yes, self involved goes with the territory. When you're constantly trying to assess how you feel you're very likely going to be trapped in your head.
