Mrs used to drink Lady Grey, its fucking disgusting. The citrus flavours have no place in a cup of tea.

We've not even discussed green tea yet. When do we get on to that.

I dunno, have you tried Mellow Birds? There’re definitely grades of coffee down at the granulated end. I can’t do the new coffee-in-a-fancy-baked-bean-can versions that have surfaced lately, especially the Nescafé ones, there’s something synthetic to the taste that really bugs me. I think there’s a “creamer” type component in there to mimic the smoothness of coffe at the fancier end or something.

And now I sound like ecosse. I’m not. I consider any type of instant coffee with GOLD added on to be the height of sophistication.

PG Tips is vile. That's all my office get and I got so fed up with it that I grabbed a handful of Yorkshire Tea teabags this morning from my kitchen to take to work with me.

I thought mellow birds went out in the 70s with horlicks and vesta curries.

It’s the Yorkshire soil that makes the tea taste so good

Someone still has to be buying it.

I though it would be good this week to add to my emergency crisis tins stash to buy some of those old Heinz tinnned treacle puddings that I last had in the 70s but apparently they are no more.

In the end I settled on a couple of Fray bentos pies.

Basically a hot mug of the milk that's left over after you've finished your bowl of Shreddies.

I used to be a fan of PG but since switching to Yorkshire, I don't like it at all. Still better than Tetley, or that Lipton's crap you get abroad

I used to drink PG tips, mainly because that's what my parents bought so grew drinking it. Now it's Twinings or Clipper depending what's on offer. Still have a PG when I go to visit my parents, it's not so bad, I've had far worse (Tetley's, Typhoo).

Proper leaf tea only in my house. None of that tea bag filth is allowed.

It's definitely the sort of thing I'd be a Ponce about and have often thought of going all in. But I .also very lazy and laziness wins every time.

    @Dougs

This is true but even fairly cheap leaf tea is a lot nicer than tea bags. And many black teas taste much better without milk.

I've never tasted horlicks but understand it's a bit like Ovomaltine, ovomaltine chocolate and biscuits are to die for.

We only have Rare Tea Company tea. Were really not posh enough, but there it is. All 14 varieties (not counting infusions like Rooibos). 7 or 8 of those are black tea.

Horlicks is absolutely lovely, but I'm usually too lazy to make it, or if I do, I won't have enough milk for coffee in the morning

Is Ovomaltine the same as Ovaltine in UK? I presume Ovomaltine is the European/Swiss name for it??
