That might have worked in the olden days, but now that you risk getting fined for leaving the house to go to the supermarket it's probably better to buy in bulk in these days.

One cheese freezing I did see a Jamie Oliver life hack where he kept the bits at the end of a block of cheese in Tupperware and kept it in the freezer. Then when he was making a lasagne he sprinkled the frozen cheese bits on top before it went in the oven.

Also, chedder keeps for quite a long time in the fridge does it not?

Shouldn't be a problem, it's more than likely cheese is somewhere on the list of key workers at this point.

Those veg saver things are great... We've got onion, tomato and avocado ones. Although in fairness our tomato one gets used for onions most of the time, so not too sure how much we're benefitting over just having a generic round shape.

Keep cheese sealed and in the fridge and it's generally good for a fair old while. Maybe less so for the soft cheeses.

People think it was a pangolin, but we all know it was the block of cheddar you'd had in there since 2018 that did it.

I freeze cheese, milk, butter and bread. It all seems to work fine defrosted, although I am not sure about the practicality of blocks of cheese. I normally freeze the grated stuff and take out what I need an hour before. The toaster even has a defrost setting for the bread.

For milk you need to give it a shake before using. Bear in mind a big old container of milk (4 pints) will take a long time to defrost in the fridge, and during that time if you try to use it you will get some mixture which will probably be higher fat content and maybe lack some of the water soluable components. In short, it tastes disgusting, so wait until it is fully melted, give it a shake and you will be good to go.

For me transitioning to UHT milk is pretty much like going from full fat to semi skimmed. It tastes a bit horrible at first but after a time you get completely used to it. And its a lot better than non dairy creamer, which is straight from satans arse and should be banned.

We went full on Oat Milk last year, you don't even need to keep it in the fridge. Taste's a LOT better than UHT.

A metric ton of cheese which I reckon you could get in a big chest freeze would have about 3 million calories, which would be enough to keep someone going for about 4 years.

Of course, you might be pretty sick of cheese by then, and if the power went off you would have to eat a fair bit of cheese pretty rapidly.

Pre-grated cheese and you freeze it? Not sure there's a worse crime you can commit.

The big sacks. There is no way I would consume a whole one quickly enough without it going off.

The correct answer is bbq base pizza. That is the worst crime you can commit.

You don't deserve life if you do that.

We still have lots of cheese left over from Christmas. The harder the cheese the longer it will keep.

I wish I could figure out what message was behind the dreams I've had this week. Part nightmare, part fleeting romance. (I was in a classroom as an exchange student and forced to gobble candle wax and then later had a whirlwind romance with a fellow student)
