Well, the author told me "Asylum seekers, slums, markets, juxtapositions of rich and poor, anything", which isn't a mean feat in London, but I have to go out on my own to do this, so I really don't want to ask some down and out for his photo. Also, social issues covers things like estate redevelopment, so fack knows how I capture that.

Oh bollocks, sorry Max, I just hijacked your thread. Maybe I should start a new one :/

Ahhh! I know. I dunno if its the same 'down there' but here in Cardiff, there are loads of new flat and housing developments, that are on the doorstep of council estates etc and certain areas such as Riverside (Opposite the Millenium Stadium). The contrasts are stark and this does seem to be a very top-down transition. Also, who is going to WANT to buy a brand new flat overlooking a railway line, in which you would be inhaling diesel fumes if you openned the window.

I will also suggest that the social impact of this regeneration is to change areas into 'Notting Hill' type places. Riverside/Grangetown are prime examples. I go through these areas every night on the bus and can sense the change. These places still have the little individual shops and not the town-centre blandness.

When I was living in Brum, I noticed many anomalies such as a row of houses, in the middle of major road junctions and blocks of flats surrounded by 4 lane roads etc. Maybe these kind of locations would be useful for pics.....

According to the paper at the weekend, you just have to get yourself a flourescent workers jacket. Then you basically have carte blanche to go anywhere, as everyone will ignore you, assuming you're fixing the electrics or whatever.

Now I just need to find out where I can get one of those jackets from. For strictly research purposes, you understand!

lol, I know someone who got caught cycling along the M3 wearing a flourescent jacket. He'd been doing it for weeks before the cops stopped him. He is a bit mad tho.
