Registered 18 years agoI have the Creative aurvana live, awesome headphones, though my ears get a bit warm if I wore them for long periods. -
I have the AKG 451s and they're pretty good. Build quality is decent and the replaceable cables is a handy feature. I managed to pick them up for £45 which is bargainous. Haven't got any complaint about them and they're a nice halfway house between over ear cans and inner ear. Nice bass on them too.
I had someone do a comparison to their Bose ones and they said they were pretty decent in comparison. -

Registered 16 years agoBuy some Brainwavz
http://www.mp4nation.net/
I own 2 sets now (M2 & recently the R1s) and both are outstanding!
I own CX300s, some Sony ones, etc. and for the money, they sound far better than the cost of them would have you expect.
I have no doubt that all the Brainwavz range are outstanding value for money.
I currently have my eye on a pair of Astrotec AM90 IEMs. $45 for balanced armatures!!!

Registered 16 years agoCool, I was quite interested in them because I'd never heard of them and also the reviews are v good. I'm kind of torn between those and the JVC ones - the sound quality is apparently excellent with them to after they've burned in a bit. -

Registered 16 years agoAre Bose actually any good? I assumed they were shyte, along with beats or beatz or whatever it is. My last comment was about the creative ones.
I'd prefer over-ears but I think those 451s won the whathifi award for summatorother? -

Registered 16 years agoPrimary use will be music through a good amp, though for games as well probably when I do my customary 2 hours racing when the kid/wife is in bed -
They're kind of over ear but that they don't sit on top of the ear and push on my glasses like some other headphones I've tried, it's a big problem with the Senheisser ones I've tried. -
For gaming the AKG ones might be an issue as they have a pretty short cable, unless you don't mind going through an extension. -

Registered 16 years agoNah it'll be fine because the amp is right next to the pc!
For some reason I've never really been a fan of sennheiser, though I can't actually remember why -

By the way, do any of the ones you guys have have 3/4 plugs? Or come with adapters?

Registered 18 years agoMine came with 3.5 to 6.35 Adapter. -
The AKG ones come with adapters for both 1/4 inch jacks and mini jacks. Oh and another plus point for the AKGs is that the company make rather excellent microphones, not sure why that's relevant but that's one of the main reasons that I bought AKG as I love their mics. -

Registered 16 years agoGrado SR80i. A bit more expensive but they are stunning. Odd design and they 'leak' as it were. If there's nobody else in the room then they are well with getting.
As with anything that you do go for, if you've got a shop like Superfi anywhere near you, they'll let you try whatever you want out. -

I am led to believe the slightly cheaper SR60i are also very good. -

Registered 11 years agoA lot cheaper but the JVC HAM5Xs are really nice headphones. Can pick up a pair for 22 quid on amazon.
RRP is 50 quid so it's relevant to the thread! -

The SR60i I've not tried. The 80i was recommended to me from a couple of friends who are sound engineers. As for Bose, from what I understand they're just vastly overpriced for what they are.
