    @yegon No aptX on iOS, but you get the AAC codec instead which is of similar quality. But the Sony app EQ won't work with AAC either though.

    But just use the EQ of the music player app you're using?

    The Sony EQ does work with the default Music player, I can hear the difference immediately. Same applies with the media players I use too, Infuse & Nplayer.

    (Apple) Music doesn't have an EQ stupidly, itís nested in settings-music-eq, and all the settings are garbage, seem to just muffle the sound, I leave it permanently off.

    When connecting the XM3s to my Mac I've chosen to use AAC encoding rather than aptX, as AAC is meant to be superior in practice.

    aptX HD is superior to AAC though.

    What I'm unclear on is if I've changed the EQ settings in the app on my phone are these modified EQ setting stored on the headphones and also used when pairing with any other device, or will the modified EQ only apply when listening to music on my phone?

    @Zerobob Maybe EQ them on your phone so they sound utterly ridiculous and then check does that carry over?

    I was about to ask this myself. For those who have the Airpod Pros, how do they fare for exercise?

    Theyíre good. Iíve done 10k runs and they stay put since I downsized the buds. Generally Iím really happy with them, transparency mode is great for when youíre in a shop or something and need to hear something but need your hands for other things than holding your earbud. Take one out and the other one goes transparent so youíre not half deaf, just very practical things and the sound is brilliant

    Oh I got the wh-1000xm3's when I was back for Christmas. Damn. They're spectacular. My first ever expensive pair of headphones but absolutely worth it.

    @Armoured_Bear I've had my WH1000mx3 all of two weeks and already I don't think I could handle the 10 minute bus trip into town without them. Oh! And the supermarket.

    Anyone suffering from the shocking call quality on Wf-1000xm3s may be interested to know an update came out a couple of days ago which apparently improves it a lot (haven't tested yet)!

    That's good because it was actually starting to make me regret my purchase as was literally unusable in all but the quietest environments.

    Thatís good news. We have a daily standup and the call quality from the few people with XM3s is genuinely shocking.

    Like the worst Iíve ever encountered through any headset. itís appalling for a premium pair of headphones.

    @MrAGSystems

    My greatest ever use was on a plane, hen parties & squawking kids all around us. When we got off everyone in my party said it was a terrible, noisy flight.

    Whuuuuut? I asked as I scratched my head.

    After reading various reviews/comments and watching numerous reviews on YouTube decided to go for engraved AirPods Pro.

    Review that really swung it was the iPhonedo review. He had a little pop at the Snazzy Labs review and how they covered the noise cancellation and he seemed to demonstrate it very well.

    Now supposedly a months wait. Which is fine by me but theyíll probably arrive next week knowing Apple.

    @yegon I discovered they're an absolute boon for a sit in lunch at the chippy. Squawking kids screaming about the place? That's okay, I can see them so I believe it, but I sure as heck can't hear them.

    @MrAGSystems

    Haha yeah. They really do allow you to withdraw from surrounding chaos.

    The only bummer is the shock when you take them off.

    I've never actually tried this, but I have pondered it - AirPods Pro AND XM3's at the same time, ha!

    @yegon I make a point of taking them off at the till just so the cashier knows I'm listening and yeah...

    That's another funny thing - you acclimatize to how much they block out, then think "are they really doing much?", take them off for a moment and it's like someone twisted the volume knob on the real world out of spite.

    Does anyone walk around in their XM3s? (over ear versions)

    When I've got a bit of a stride on, with full noise cancelling activated, I notice the volume of the music swells slightly, I think due to the headphones moving slightly on my head.

    It's really annoying, so I have to put them in ambient mode, or turn off noise cancelling altogether if I'm walking around.

    I only really use them when stationary. Too isolating when walking about I find, robs me too much of one of my senses. Plus, itís courtesy to take them off when speaking to someone, I agree.

    I use the AirPods Pro moving about, I hear people say theyíre too isolating, which makes me chuckle as they just take a pleasant slice out of surrounding noise rather than drown it out.

    @zerobob

    I notice fluctuation in noise cancellation when eating. Moving my jaw must break the fit a little.

    I used to wear my XM3 out and about but not AirPod pros. Cold wars now, though. Went to put my hood up and dropped right pod on to pavement. Chipped a chunk out of the pod. Grrrr

    I just came back from a 5km walk with the MX3s along with a bit of supermarket doings earlier. Peaceful bliss.

    They're not the tightest headphones I've ever had (the Sennheiser HD4.40 BT feel like they've been clamped to your head), but the fit is secure and consistent.

    Wear mine walking to and from work everyday, and then at work most of the day. It's got to the point my ears hurt in a brisk breeze if I don't have them on... Pretty snowflake.

    I do slightly worry someone is going to run past and whip them off my head, but 2+ years of wearing wireless overear cans and it's not happened yet... Touch wood.
