Was gifted some Bose Frames Alto sunglasses, they are super cool. Sounds quality is really good for something that doesn't go in/on/over your ear. I think it could be a game changer for running in the summer for me.

I suppose its like different pairs of shoes for your two feet. My best sounding headphones are also among the least comfortable and the ones I can wear all day arent the best sounding.

The mrs has some flat sennheiser and sonys for work.

And throw in some PC/Gaming headsets and it builds up.

I send them my old ones. You can see kids running around in JVC headphones in the back of comic relief videos.

Anyone ever use the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm? They're studio headphones and not being used for casual music listening, although they probably could be.
It's the only pair of headphones I hate. Don't get me wrong, they're not bad cans, in fact a lot of people like them and I have a pair of DT880 Pro which I use for every day listening.

But when I was starting out as a newbie sound engineer in my second week my mentor had to take a day off so I wound up doing a location recording solo. And he had left his DT770s in the cart so I used them for monitoring. Biiiiiig mistake. The mix came out tinny, literally no bass because I'd compensated for the low bump of the cans. Learnt that lesson the hard way and only used my own cans after that. Never touched another pair of DT770 since then.

@mrpon My friend had some of those, until he sat on them.

I thought they were pretty good too, but the only flaw is if you're relying on them as your daily headphones you can't use them once it's gone dark, say, on the walk back from the pub... well, unless you want to look like a dick and get run over.

I love the 770s. I often pimp them on here. I donít think thereís another headphone that punches so high above itís weight, apart from maybe the HD25.

Yep, it's so much down to personal preference. Hence my dislike of the DT770. ;)

I definitely have a love/hate with my SR80e's. If you eq 2k down, they sound pretty nice but, I dont know if its because I wear glasses or the shape of my head, but to get the best sound out of them, I have to flex in the headphone band a lot so they really clamp to my head which makes them super uncomfortable after a while.

I do pick them up if im listening to something pretty layered with a lot of instruments but I think their party piece is probably for netflix or something. They sound great listening to movies and TV.

Iím very sensitive to sibilance and generally donít like brighter profiles. Lower end Grados make me wince. Although again I do appreciate they have incredible detail and soundstage.

Out of the box, they also made me recoil occasionally at higher volumes. You start pushing it a little bit and suddenly something will screech at you like a banshee.

Aesthetically, I do love the design. I know they are a love it or hate it thing, but I do love seeing them hung on the lamp of glory.

@Zerobob yeah, would never be a daily headphone. Just specifically for sunny days! We've all got multiple sets of headphones for different cases uses, right? Right?!

I do have a pair of Grado SR80i but apart from the AirPods Pro that's all I've got so I'm looking for something new. Doing a lot of video editing hence the "need" for something more studio. But ideally would like something that a different kind of sound.

I was looking at the AirPods Max but I can get at least 2 sets of better quality headphones for the price of those.

What are you all using for storage or stands for your headphones? I've been looking around for something to put on my desk to hold 2 sets, can't find anything other than cheap tat.

Don't get me wrong, cheap's OK, just wanted something a little ornamental too.

I went with the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 ohm. It was either that or ATH-M60X. I did have the M60X on order and then cancelled it for DT 770. Reason being that the M60X cups seems a little bit too small for my big head.

Oh well. They are not stupidly expensive. Looking forward to having a new kind of sound.

770s arrived yesterday. Had a brief try on them. Too soon to tell but it seems like a different sound signature from the Gradios, which is exactly what I was after.

I have found that getting them comfortable on your head requires having them positioned in a slightly unexpected place on your head/ears. I struggled with the clamping at first but now I can wear them for 3 to 4 hours without clamping pain... At that point the ear fatigue starts to come about instead... -_-

They are a cruel mistress, but I really like the sound whilst my.body tolerates them.

You can spend £3k+ on the top end Grados and theyíre still like that. I kind of respect their unflinching commitment to being uncomfortable as part of their brand.

Iíve found the SR80is to be really comfortable. Mind you, Iíve had them for a very long time.

The top end ones look great but as many have said, donít sound any better (or that much different) to other models.

What do you guys think of Z Reviews on YouTube?

Like I say, I love the design. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I really dig how they look. I dont think they would have to sacrifice much of that to make them more comfy.

That said, it would probably make them more expensive and being cheap(ish) is also a USP.

All that said, it really is my glasses that are causing the problem. Ive got a couple of on-ear sets and I can wear them fine because the pads are significantly smaller. Because they are massive on the grado, they dig the arms into my head because of the clamping force you need.
