Horses for courses eh! My mates also live in clapham and love it.
London is brilliant. Adore living here.
Just moved to a studio in Clapham Junction near the station, and I love it.
I can't stand it, fighting throngs of people even just to go to the aupermarket, and the atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday night doesn't agree with me, hordes of drunk people puking on the street and starting fights. Just like any town centre I suppose.
Lived on the isle of dogs for 8 years now, and although it's not the nicest area I love the quietness and the fact I can get into central in about 20mins, and never really had any trouble from the gangs of kids although I did call the police a couple of times to stop a few fights in the park. I'll miss it when I'm gone. -

Registered 16 years agoI think living in the commuter belt gives you the best of both worlds. From Herts I can be in central London in less than an hour but I'm also surrounded by countryside and it's easier to find a parking space.
I can't imagine it's much fun if you have to brave FCC every morning to get to work though. -

I'd say, for me at least the only cities that come close to London is Sydney and Amsterdam in terms of cities I'd like to live in.
Look, it's a big metropolitan city. It's going to be busy and noisy and dirty and have shitty bits. They all do. Certainly up against UK competition in this respect then London comes out well. Compare it to Rome or Barcelona...ok...fair dos. Even they have a lot of shitty parts.
New York is nice but it's too compact for me. I mean Manhattan, dunce.

That was me. I went to a pub there before christmas, can't remember the name, but you come out of the station, walk up the high street and then turn right and walk through a bit of a residential area to get there. The pub had all kinds of strange beers and stuff on.

My only issue was the walk through the residential area where there were a number of gangs of unsavoury looking characters hanging out and "looking at me" as i walked past, you know the types.
Kind of shit i'm used to on the Isle of Dogs. -

I agree, it's the closest city to "feeling" like London that I've been too. I just don't like it for some reason, probably lack of green space. That's one thing we don't seem to appreciate in London enough.

For a large city we do have a lot of parks. -
Brixton is alright as well. -

Well I used to work there (about 5 minutes away from Angel Station) and I can't say I ever noticed anything like that.
