Got to say, the video footage does look absolutely amazing. Definitely think this is going to be one to keep an eye on! Edited by Ultrasoundwave at 09:02:32 21-02-2013 |

Registered 18 years agoIt's a bunch of cutscenes innit? Given Killzones history I'd be wary of attaching too much hope to that stuff. -

Registered 14 years agoIt looks pretty but Killzone 2 along with FFXIII have proved in the past it was possible to polish a turd after all. -

Registered 18 years agoI thought KZ2 lived up to the video pretty well so I'm looking forward to this. Nice to see some shiny futuristic environments in KZ. -
Generic shooter with cover and everything.. -

Registered 16 years agoWas that supposed to be running in 1080p? Even if it was, it doesn't look as good as Crysis 3.
This next gen is more like two last gens sellotaped together. -

Registered 11 years agoIt looked good until he jumped on the helicopter. That's the sort of shoehorned set piece that made Killzone 3 unbearable. Before that it looked nice and open, and I loved the little scope switch animation for sniping.
If it was target render again then they've at least done a better job with it this time. It actually looked like a guy was playing it. -
Looks pretty but really boring.
Pretty graphics can't hide rote gameplay. I want to see something I haven't seen before. -

Registered 13 years agoGraphics were shinier and the colours were vibrant but the character animations were almost identical to previous killzone games. I think if you don't like the franchise then this game won't convince you to get a PS4. -

Registered 19 years agoKillzone needs to be killed off. It's never been triple a material and never will be, give it up already and start over. -
I'm surprised the series gained so much traction. Especially after the first was allegedly so mediocre and the prerendered debacle over the second one.
I imagine they sell enough to warrant a sequel.
It saddens me that we're going into yet another generation with the FPS being so dominant. Hopefully Destiny will be the kick in the arse it needs. -

Registered 11 years agoDoes look boring predictable gameplay from SP point of view. Some people get their kicks from that sort of game.
Is the MP community still going strong with the KZ games? Is that the real strength of this series? -

The KZ3 campaign wasnt great (but definitely wasnt as bad as some made out) but the MP was where the real fun was. Map design, character class upgrades and weapons were all spot-on IMO.
Looking forward to Shadow Fall..... -

Loved Killzone 2 to bits, it may actually be the last fps game I've finished. Fun AI, great art design, and a proper, continuous campaign.

Mind, I've never picked up KZ3 though because that seemed to have abandoned most of what I liked about the second one. -
Looks very nice.
But it's still Killzone. Hurrah/boo, whatever. -

Registered 14 years agoThe game was played live at the show, then video of it uploaded at the end. Surely everyone who was watching saw that happen? So, at no time was it cutscene.
People often complain about lack of colour in FPS games, and this game looked properly colourful, but there was a point to the lack of colour in previous Killzone games - everything greyish except the slightly evil glows of red and green and blue, making it look a bit nightmarish.
I've always enjoyed Killzone gameplay, the guns feel 'right' with some meaty sound and thump, but every time any of the characters open their mouth you hate them so much you wish the Helghast would win. And as usual this game won't address the elephant in the room - that you play as the bad guys! -
Use of colour isn't really the epitome of critique surely?
It does look to be paint-by-numbers though. Now with added Far Cry moves.
I await a Dead Rising moment. -

Registered 9 years agoDid anyone else notice the frame rate dips at certain points. The gameplay was as uninspiring as call of duty. It bored me.
It looked good at least

This seems to be one of those enduring myths. There may be a questionable back story to Killzone but you're definitely the good guys.

Registered 14 years agoErm, didn't understand any of that, in KZ3 you had the various stealth/close in kills including stabbing, predating Far Cry 3. The point I made about the colour was because Martin, in the live blog, wrote that it was now with colours, which was unfair. I certainly didn't imply that The Game Is Great Because Look Colours Done in a Special Way, just saying that the washed out grey look is deliberate and effective.
The series looks and plays great and has a crap plot and awful, awful dialogue and characters. So Far Cry 3 after all
What's a Dead Rising moment? -

Registered 15 years agoShiny, but it seemed to offer nothing new. KZ2 was probably the highpoint of the series, even with the massive flaws that it had. -
@FogHeart
It borrows Far Cry 3's aerial knife kills followed by throwing knife takedown for a start.
When I say Dead Rising moment I mean a game that offers mechanics or gameplay previously unachievable. The zombie swarms in DR contributed much to what made the game what it was. Going by the Wii version it really couldn't have been done on previous tech.
Killzone 4 looks great but the gameplay could be achieved pretty much exactly on current hardware.

It does look great but its clever in the way it shows amazing panoramic views during the on rails opening, then when the actual game starts a bomb goes off and you can't see further then 20 foot away due to grey fog.
