Hey Folks! I'm looking into maybe buying a beamer. It'd be used mainly for watching TV/DVDs but I'm sure I will be tempted to hook up to PC to it every now and again for some gaming. I don't have a huge budget, so I'm looking at the bottom of the range. I've done some searches online and a lot of the cheaper machines mention a 800x600 resolution. So doe sthis mean that I need to set my games to this size when I hook the PC up to the beamer? I normally play on a 17" screen and I set that to 1280x920 (or something like that) Would a session of HL2 on the beamer mean I have to a windows size I use to play Doom on? Or am I being a numpty and did I misunderstand something here. Cheers for any advice give. Ta for the amusing yet not helpful comments also. (bored) :-D |

Registered 18 years agoThemescene H30 - It's DLP, cheap, won awards last year and is frigging great imho. Doesn't suffer from rainbows too much (just read the AV forums if this means nothing to you) but should be cheap atm and is great for cinema and games. Thouroughly recommneded. -

Oh, and to answer the original question, I don't think you're being a numpty. If the projector does 800x600, then that's all you'll get through it. Bear in mind it'll look better than Doom though, due to better textures, anti aliasing, and the ability to use colours other than day-glo red.
