Some more news has trickled out this week about the sequel to First Class/Prequel to the original film trilogy: http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2013/03/05/everything-we-know-about-x-men-days-of-future-past/ Perhaps interestingly, the film will pair the actors from First Class with the actors of the original trilogy: It's currently slated for release July 18th 2014. |

Registered 12 years agoAlso, you've omitted what is probably the most interesting piece of casting here, and that's Peter Dinklage. -
Oh wait, I've only just cottoned on to what's happening here. So it's linking First Class to the original movies. That's really quite interesting. -

Registered 12 years agoYeah, by way of time travel. It'll be a way to reboot the whole lot and screw any convoluted continuity from previous films. -

Registered 13 years agoPotentially, though it could be that the "old" actors are instead playing alternate-reality versions of their characters, given that the story is about preventing a possible future by going back in time to change the past. -

Registered 16 years agoIt is but... I dunno... I would have liked another 60's X-Men. I know it wasnt as popular as it should have been but it seems a bit of a 'suit' move to smash the not so popular series straight into the popular one. -

The original story? I own it. It's regarded as one of the seminal stories of modern comics.

Registered 12 years agoDM, yes the original story. It might be helpful to the forum if you don't spout conjecture on this one, eh? -

Yeah I agree. Origins had a different tone and feel to where the main movies have ended up. I think it's a shame to merge them.

It's not potentially a linkage, it is a linkage. We discussed this all in the Iron Man 3 thread. Bryan Singer literally says "This is going to be a combination of all the films", not just "old cast cameoing as future peoples". It is, literally, not hypothetically, a sequel to Last Stand and First Class at the same time. Literally.
It's a very interesting concept, kind of like that Saved By The Bell episode where they have storylines that go from The New Class to The College Years and end up with Screech in both but being totally oblivious to either story and Zack mysteriously gains long hair in one show but not the other. But the continuity is what bugs me. He can't do a Prometheus and just ignore it (it's too big and the films too recent), but at the same time just going "yeah, parallel dimensions, time travel etc" as an explanation is pretty damn lazy.

You've been programmed to find her attractive. I'd personally judge anyone who doesn't. What else are they hiding?
(Ignoring teh fact she's nearly 30)

Pretty much, yeah. Comic people accept any old shit, really. -
I'm more disturbed at the issues with Saved by the Bell, tbh.
