Registered 16 years agoThe thing is, like prometheus since someone mentioned it, there is literally no need for all of this convoluted continuity and no need for a movie to 'fix it', they are just creating problems for themselves.
Just fucking ignore it. These x-men movies are set in the 60s and these are set at the turn of the millenium. There is absolutely no need to link them together.
Its far easier to say 'a wizard did it' in comics than it is in films. -

Go and find 'Threshold', the short lived sci-fi series.

I don't really get the obsession with Dinklage either. -

Registered 15 years agoEven though it was the 60s, they all spoke as if it were today. I thought they could have done a better job researching how people spoke in the 60s and applying that information to the script. -
Dinklage sounds funny. -
As I said in the other thread, the reason Singer's mashing them up is basically ego - the original X-Men trilogy universe is his baby (I know he didn't direct 3, but it's still a continuation of what he set down rather than rebooting everything) and he wants to continue it rather than directly following on from someone else's take on things. The moment a time travel opportunity showed up, he grabbed it as a way to do that without looking overly arrogant. -
Also Vaughn > Singer. -

Registered 16 years agoNah, the reason hes mashing them together is a studio mandate. No one else would do something so pointless.
Other than maybe the dude who made Superman Returns.. -

Registered 12 years ago@kalel He's a great actor, imo. Seen The Station Agent? -
More casting details suggests the First Class side of things may be heavily toned down - they've dropped all but four First Class cast - McAvoy, Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, and script talk suggests he's junked Hellfire Club stuff entirely from what was already written. Wouldn't be surprised if the First Class part turned out to be little more than cameo fodder. -

Registered 13 years agoOr it could include a whole load of x-men that haven't been done on screen before. God knows there's enough of them. -

He was done pretty well-ish in that crappy wolverine movie. -

Registered 15 years agoI would have liked to see Darwin hang around. He seemed to have some of the more interesting powers, but died in like 8 seconds.
He was a dweeb, though. Definitely not someone you could imagine driving a NY cab. -

He was rumoured to from something McAvoy said, but he later retracted that saying he "spoke too soon". Basically, the script they did have which brought back virtually every mutant from every film got junked after Singer came back onboard.

It was quite funny. A proper 'the black guy dies first' moment.

Registered 15 years agoI mean, he was just trying to protect that stripping slut traitor bitch. I thought putting him through the excruciatingly painful death of being incinerated from the inside out was a bit OTT of Kevin Bacon. -

Registered 16 years agoSTANDBY FOR AN 'IN THE COMICS' ANECDOTE:
In the comics he is pretty much unkillable. The hulk tried to punch him once and rather than evolve a power to be able to fight the Hulk, his body realised how stupid that would be, so he spontaneously evolved the power of teleportation and ended up in a field miles away from the fight. -

The reason why he wasn't in X3 is because Alan Cumming refused to go through so many hours of makeup and prosphetics every day.

Bishop could be an interesting addition if they decide to include him.
The cartoon series' version of the story involved him going back in time (instead of Shadowcat in the comics) to assassinate Gambit, who turned out to be Mystique in disguise attempting to assassinate a Senator (which is what causes the future timeline).
Something along those lines would be pretty cool.

January Jones is confirmed to not be in it. -
Am I the only person who thought she had the glassy, disinterested eyes of a stripper and sleepwalked her way through the role with a turn so uncharacteristic, you could replace her with any actress in the world and no one would notice the difference?
'Is that the same Emma Frost as the last movie?'
'I guess so...shes blonde and in a bikini..'
