Play Asia had it listed as October last time I looked. Not sure if they know something or are just guessing though. |

Registered 8 years agoJapanese release date rumoured to be December 19th.
The author of the piece suggests that this means it won't release in the West this year. I can't say I agree; the localisation will already be done (and they've even had a teaser for the English language audio drama out for a while), so I don't see what would stop them from releasing worldwide simultaneously, or at least in the same month. -

Registered 6 years agoHold on, RRP £39.99? I thought the most a vita title goes for was £34.99

Registered 7 years agoShopto has had an expensive preorder up for FFX since earlier this year. They almost always stick uncertain ones up at a high price so that they don't lose out on it. Most of them come down closer to release. I wouldn't necessarily assume that's RRP. -

Registered 8 years agoI'd imagine it's a placeholder, though some Vita games do have an RRP of £39.99 - I bought both Silent Hill: Book of Memories and AssCreed: Liberation for that much at Game (I had about £60 worth of giftcards that I had to blow, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered).
I'm guessing FFX and X-2 will have a lower RRP than £40, but I would imagine the two together will still cost more than the single box on PS3 (the quoted prices in the rumour I linked were 7,980¥ for the PS3 collection and 4,480¥ each for the Vita games). -

VG+ have it as a standard price pre-order so it should be there to import even if not physical here. I can't see them making Final Fantasy DL only though.

Yeah, but VGP have had that there for ages. They'd just cancel if it was announced that they weren't doing physical copies. I hope they will do a physical release, too, but I wouldn't take any retailer preorders as proof.

Registered 11 years agoIt seems like it's been a big project for them with the amount of time it's taken and how much better the graphics look so it would be very surprising if it isn't a physical release. SQE will surely feel this is a game that can make people buy Vitas so having it on the store only where people without a Vita can't see it would be a curious decision. -

Same reason MGS Collection didn't come with Peace Walker. Not enough room on one cart. A Vita cart only holds 3.6GB while a DVD holds more than twice that.

Still no release date, but it's now saying "This Winter" instead of "2013", so I wouldn't be surprised if it had been pushed into early 2014 now. -

GTAV came on two dvds (Lost Odyssey on 4), so no excuses for not putting MGSC on 2 carts.

Registered 13 years ago@PazJohnMitch dvds are cheap to manufacture compared to carts. Might have ended up charging way more than they'd have liked. -

Registered 11 years agoAye I'm guessing the carts add a fair bit to the price, as even old/crap games rarely drop as low as 360/ps3 games do. Seems to be the same for 3DS where even shovelware is over a tenner.
I'm guessing with DVDs you can use any old DVD of the required quality as you just need to buy whatever security is used to burn onto the disc.
With the carts you also have to buy them direct from Sony/Nintendo who make a big profit. Sony aren't as bad for it but if you're paying £5 per cart vs 50p or whatever it eats into your profit margin including an extra cart, if people won't accept a £10 jump in price.

Registered 8 years agoThis is, quite surprisingly, at the EG Expo! PS3 only though, no sign of a Vita build. It looked absolutely stunning too, and best of all: no more fat Tidus running like he's on the moon!
Unfortunately, that motion blur that hurts my brain is still in there, but I guess we can't have it all.
EDIT - have a pic I took off the screen. It doesn't really give much away, but the game looks very clean: Clicky for piccy.
