Just wondering if anyone is reading this. Cory Doctor has been going on about it a bit and the concept seemed intriguing. I'm only about two thirds in and it's really coming together. Not as much fun as Ready Player One but a lot smarter. Basically a disaffected games developer, sick of making pony games for pre-teen girls, gets the opportunity to study million year old video games from a federation of aliens who've recently appeared and who are mining the moon to make a vast space station. It's a bit slow at the start but it's gathering steam and I can't wait to finish it. Basically imagine how the aliens would feel if humans made contact with them and part of the cultural exchange was a copy of Space Invaders, or Leisure Suit Larry, or Custer's Revenge. |
