I usually watch this (and shout for Cambridge), but this year I'm going to have to yell for the dark Blues. My nephew's in the Oxford boat! And at 6' 10", he's the tallest guy ever to row in the race. Go Oxford! (And Cambridge.) |

Its seen as those quintessentially British things thay housewives love, despite every boat in living memory being crewed by Canadians.

I quite like the "build up", a veritable who's who of Middle England trying their hardest not to look excited about being on telly. -

Pretty surprised to read the swimmer from last year was jailed for six months. -

Registered 12 years agoI agree with them to a certain extent. The bloke is an arsehole and he had a prejudiced view of high society. Six months is a piss take, though. -

Registered 10 years agoIMO the Boat Race is a good sporting event. I just wish it would include all other Universities, so it's a bit like University Challenge, and the best two teams at the end of the season can race instead of the same ones each year. -

Well, without Oxford and Cambridge having about 20 teams each.

Registered 10 years agoOf course, one team per University -
Oxbridge'd just dominate all the others for years.
Better to do a big inter-uni thing that wasn't contingent on your institution having a dozen+ boat houses... -
p.s. woo yeah Oxford. Despite working in the university I could not give a toss.
