I'd agree if it did not have a camera.

Just compare it to a phone of the same size even a cheap and cheerful sagem, samsung, ericsson, etc and comparitively its shit.

Orange SPVC500 - best phone I've ever used and its cheap/free on a new Orange contract.

Agreed, and its bloody cheap with OneStopPhoneShop, although quite a bit of hassle.

Oh, and I've got a really good condition P900 for sale if you're interested. I liked it (great for watching southpark on the tube) but found I really wanted something a little smaller and sacrifice on the features.

Thats the best thing about an SPV C500, you get a phone the size of a T610 (plenty small and light enough) and you get a Pocket PC minus the larger touchscreen (and software incompatibility, it runs Windows Mobile for Smartphones, which will get bloody confusing as Microsoft are planning to drop the 'for Pocket PC' or 'for Smartphone' part from the name, even though they are very similar but incompatible)

For a total £30 for the phone and 200 anytime cross network minutes a month (select OVP Vodafone 200) for a whole year (plus a fair amount of hassle, cancelling all the other crap they sign you up to and claiming back the money), its the best bargain ever!

Yeah, not a bad handset. The 6630 (same basic handset but with uprated Java and 3G support) is available also, if 3G is a consideration.

AFAIK the 6600 and the 6230 really are identical. Like Phattso says, the 6630 is better as it has the 3G stuff.

Cheers. 3G is no biggie at all, and more importantly, I don't want to pay a penny. 6230 is sounding ideal.
I think kalel mistyped 6230 for 6630 there. Compare the 6600 and 6230 specs.

Yeah, the 6600 and 6630 are both Symbian Series 60 devices.

The 6230 is a "Super" Series 40 device (upgrade to the base Series 40 specs).

SPV C500...for all the reasons Dinj mentioned.

Ive had, in the last 18 months:

Nokia 6600 - Too big, massive screen but big creaky plastic build. Some software bugs on all three replacments I had from Orange. Great camera and picture viewer though.

SE K700i - Nice phone but the "cheapness" of the keypad and the look of the phone (masive camera lens on the back, white keys on silver) just started to bug me. The womens voice "you have a call" ringtone was cool

SPV C500 - Still havnt got round to getting a decent miniSD card yet but just as a phone the thing is great. I got it in black cos I was sick of big silver phones. The only issue I had is the diary is a little buggy (showing upcoming appotiments that are 48 hours away) but there is a fix I heard. Will be downloading some emus soon.

T'was what I thought. My only gripe about the 6600 is the size - and the fact that I'll knacked the screen as my phone always kicks around in my pocket with my keys!

Edit: Venkman - what kind of software bugs?

Yeah, we nicknamed the 6600 "Big Headed Baby" here - it's just a bit of a wrong shape. That said - it's comfortable to hold, easy to use, and very powerful.

I also keep my mobile in my pocket with my car/house keys most of the time which is why I tend to favour clam shell designs or the more sturdy standard units. Since I have so many handsets here for work, though, I feel like my missus picking shoes whenever I go out: "which phone goes well with this shirt?" ;-)

My one sometimes shows appointments in the past. I mainly use the hompage diary thing as a quick link to the Calendar.

You can get a 256MB mini SD card with free SD adaptor (pretty useless as it take longer to dismantle the phone to put the card in the adaptor and transfer files quickly than it does to ActiveSync them on) for £19.97 inc free shipping from ebuyer (Currently out of stock).
