I don't know if someone posted this before, but I'll try to explain the issue I have with my PS3.
I changed the lens of the blu ray drive since it could not read any discs anymore.
It worked once or twice after the replacement, but died after that that.

The drive does not load any discs any more, no sounds are coming from the drive when pushing the disc in the tray.

When pushing a disc in the tray the eject led blinks, which is OK.

I tried with another drive, but same issue.

Cable are well fit, checked them several times, refitted them, ...

Is there someone who can help me out to repair the PS3?

    thanks in advance.

Don't know if it's still a problem or what, but I had 3 PS3s (60GB, 2 40GBs) that had this problem, and the exact same thing happened, the laser was replaced and it just wouldn't load discs, the LED blinked and everything. So I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that it isn't the Blu Ray drive failing at all, it's the motherboard. It is an issue they apparently sorted out with the more recent models, but most old ones are giving out now. A motherboard failure is pretty much irreparable, I'd back up the PS3 and get another unfortunately :(
