How to kill an enemy 5 levels higher than you that wipes your party in one hit:

Engage them in conversation, repeatedly teleport them 200 meters up the road where a friendly character who is 5 levels higher than them waits who will kill them the moment they tuern hostile.

They have nerfed the rupture chicken combo in today's patch. Also nerfed the necromancer summon. Bastards.

He does loads less damage and has much less health. To be fair on my summoner the bone thing does stupid damage, can quite often kill things in one turn if supercharged. Then summon the incarnate on the second turn. Now its better to just use the incarnate and have the bone one for emergencies if the incarnate dies or gets charmed.

Word of warning. If you start a co-op game, make sure you manually save your single player campaign.

RIP my first fucking play through act 1. Time to redo!

This fight against some clay sentinels is quite possibly the most boring moment of my entire life

Not sure I have done that, were they the ones in the crypt in the graveyard?

I've got back around to continuing my play through of the first game after leaving it on the shelf for months. Why did I stop! What a game: a pretty brutal step-change in difficulty until you get used to it, but so satisfying.

The bigger the thing you turn into a chicken, the better.

A bit late to the party but I was doing that bit today and after a couple of annoying reloads realized that you don't get any XP anyway and it does not trigger the fight until you have looted everything. So, only took in my lucky charm (leaving the other 3 outside the crypt) then proceeded to loot everything to my heart's content and then just teleport using the pyramids back to the other 3 when done. Some fights can be annoying but it is nice that there are some nifty ways out of them sometimes!

The new world leader in the "holy shit, everything's on fire, again" championships:

Yeah its a nightmare when the fire ones join in as well, done that fight twice now. Once the guy lived and the other he died. It was his own stupid fault for running through cursed fire with low health, I was like noooo. There is a spell if you socket a source orb that does a mass dispel and removes necrofire from under your feet. I'm not sure how it decides which of the 3 spells you get though but they are all good.

@Duffking hah, that fight is insane. It is also ridiculously long. Still, I rather liked it as it built a lot of tension.
  • Deleted user 17 October 2017 07:53:40
@Frogofdoom the source orbs and any rune have different effects when placed in different equipment. Orbs give venomous aura when in weapons, mass cleanse heal thing when in armour and some other thing in necklaces, I think. You can see it when you hover over them.

Ah cool, I figured it may have been something like that. The mass cleanse is really useful for necrofire moments.

Luckily the guy for me was fairly sensible and just stayed put at the top of the tower.

I was hoping source orbs would all have different skills attached, was disappointed that they're all the same.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of boss fights where the design for making them hard appears to be "give them 10+ AP, make them go first and make sure they have no cooldowns on any of their abilities"

Not sure I have got to that yet, but that probably kills at least one of my party

No-one playing D:oS2 then? Very quiet in here or is there a separate thread for the second game?

    @heavy_salad

I'm waiting for the console version of DOS2 to arrive, so likely to be later into next year unfortunately. I'm sure there's a few others in the same boat!

Think there's just this thread. I need to get back to it. It's the best game of the year imo but feels almost intimidating to play, especially if I have less than a couple of hours free.
  • Deleted user 27 November 2017 13:14:52
I finished it a couple of weeks back. Ended up having to drop the difficulty down for the final battle as it was really tough.

Overall Arx is very tough indeed and I stalled a bit there as it was so difficult. I have rerolled but so far I haven't had that much free time to get stuck in again.

@Mr_Sleep I've been tempted to drop the difficulty already and I'm still on Act 1

It's pretty brutal - much harder than the first game IMO.
  • Deleted user 27 November 2017 16:30:56
@heavy_salad I dont blame you. The second act is actually slightly easier. So push on through and it should ease off a bit. I mean, it can still be tough but as more skills unlock and money isore avilable it eases up a bit.

It is harder, definitely. Although I think where are certain builds and squad layouts that make it a bit easier. Summoning certainly seems quite powerful. Not that I have used that yet much, like a chump.

I thought Act 2 was harder personally, with a more pressing need to keep gear up to matching level with your enemies. Act 3 and 4 have been a cakewalk for me though.

I imagine thanks to the armour system the game would be really easy if you built a team that focuses heavily on one type of damage, rather than dividing it between physical and magical.

@Mr_Sleep I think one of my problems was not really putting any thought into my team make-up or skill attribution so I've probably made it artificially harder for myself anyway!

Hear you can re-spec at will after Act 1 though so just got to push through this Alexander fight which is kicking my arse.

The last boss is a real twat of a fight, also the last fight for lohse is tricky as well. Other than that it gets easier as you go I think.
