I always thought he had some involvement on the Star Wars films, but looking through his history now I see I was mistaken. Huh.

Still, absolute fucking legend. His films were a large part of my childhood.

R.I.P. to a man who most definitely left his mark on this world.

A shame we never got to see his War of the Worlds, though we did get plenty of amazing stuff.

Everyone else has said it already.

His entire collection got presented to the National Media Museum a couple of years ago by the Harryhausen family. There's always a couple of pieces on display and they're working up to a bigger exhibition. Worth checking it out if you're in the area:

I was talking about him yesterday - we were considering visiting the David Livingstone Centre, which features a huge bronze statue of Dr L fighting lions, made by Harryhausen (his wife is David Livingstone's great granddaughter).

Very sad indeed, I was obsessed with his films as a kid- there was nothing else that came close for a heady mix of myth and women with nice boobies.

Huge fan of Harry's work, every time I see a skeleton walking around in a game or film I instantly have a flashback to Jason and the Argonauts. RIP.
