Conversely going by this thread, I love The Killing and can't wait for season 4. The two leads have such great chemistry they are a joy to watch.

I thought the US version of The Killing was ace personally. Very reminiscent of Murder One or Twin Peaks. May watch the Danish version at some point but I thoroughly enjoyed the US version. The actor who plays Holder does a brilliant job.

Just started watching The Walking Dead TV series on US Netflix, really enjoyed it although I see no need for bloody stupid sex scenes. Maybe I'm spoiled by brilliant TellTale series but it makes it cringle-worthy. Only happened twice though. Finished first season last night.

Not sure if I should wait a bit before starting Season 2 as I'd like to watch Daxter, or jump straight away to season 2 of WD...

People go on about Firefly, but it the thought occurs that it came out after Andromeda, and it plagarises Andromeda pretty heavily, dystopian future, small crew with roguish elements and also a priest like dude.  Even has the same actor who's the engineer in Andromeda is the pilot on Firefly, and plays the same type of personality.

    Sounds more like Farscape :p
  • Deleted user 16 January 2014 23:03:09
That's probably true but it's obviously much better because it doesn't have Hercules or Muppets in it ;)

Does anyone know if Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars is on Netflix or will I need to buy dvd from Amazon?

I know the four series are in there but can't see the PKW's.

I don't know how long it's been on there so could be known but Tim Minchin and The Heritage Orchestra - Live at The Royal Albert Hall is on Netflix UK. Very much recommended.
I've been watching this tonight, it's unreasonably superb. The guy is a genius

Watched Burning Love on UK Netflix this evening. It's a parody of US dating shows like The Bachelor, starring many of the regulars from Children's Hospital.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2292621/

    Worth a watch.

In The House - a French drama by François Ozon about a teacher who becomes obsessed by a gifted student and his transgressive adventures with a middle-class family.

John Carter - this a box office bomb but I really liked it. It had a very retro matinee feel like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Parts of it are cringe-worthy and some of the actors ham it up or obviously don't give a shit. Dominic West in particular is woeful. It is far superior to the like of Transformers.

Cowboys & Aliens - another box office failure that's surprisingly decent. The battle scenes at the end are incredibly confusing and repetitive but apart from that I thought it was enjoyable and both Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford are good. A lot of the supporting actors are from quality TV shows like Dead Wood and Justified.

That's an oddly defensive post. Do you think they're actually "shit" or did you just not like them? because there's a difference.

Cowboys and Aliens isn't quite as dumb as you'd expect, I feel that maybe it'd be better if it was. I thought it was ok, I don't think I'd recommend it though.

John Carter I liked, as MrFlay says it's an old school adventure and is just as entertaining and silly as that implies.

I thought this was bloody good until the aliens showed up.

The first season of the killing goes on for way too long and has as many plot holes as the american remake. The leads are great though.

I thought john cater was fantastic. It's a shame out bombed. I would have liked to see more john cater adventures. I liked cowboys vs aliens. It's enjoyable but not brilliant. It's worth a watch.

L illyhammer - starts average grows on you and becomes unmissable once the characters become familiar. Look out for the brick top actor from snatch playing basically brick top, hilarious. Looking forward to S3.

We've just finished watching the first two seasons of Castle. The concept is pretty dumb, what with them solving every homicide they come across but is still fun, and the characters are likable so has kept us entertained at least.
