I don't hate the fights in Iron Fist actually. I don't love them but at least it doesn't do the jumping-and-cutting-so-you-can't-tell-what-the-hell's-going-on thing that a lot of shows and films do, I guess to make the fights seem more 'dynamic' or something.

I've just watched a few of the fight scenes on and they're pretty awful. For a character who's entire point is how good he is at martial arts it's an interesting decision to cast someone who is literally unable to throw even the simplest of kicks.

    Yeah but guys.

    Samurai Gourmet.

Fuck that Iron Fist bullshit, go and watch a retired 60 year old Japanese guy go and eat meals in restaurants. The show is legitimate happiness crack.

It's been 30 years since I last did any martial arts and I don't particularly follow the movie genre, so the fight scenes aren't as jarring for me. So I still find it as good as Luke Cage.

I didnt think Luke Cage was that bad. I actually found Jessica Jones more of a drudge...especially in the middle of it.

As dry as it may seem, I'm sat here churning through The Inexplicable Universe with Neil deGrasse Tyson. Man, I want to get so high right now...

Having just watched the first episode, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey is a massive glitzy bowl of my kinda jazz too.

Big Game is on UK Netflix. I enjoyed the heck out of it, it's a bigger budget production from the guys who made Rare Exports (the Finnish Santa horror movie). The somewhat older now kid from that film is in it, and he's great.

Samuel Jackson plays the cowardly president of the USA being hunted in Finland because of reasons.

    Watch it, it's good.

Kill the Irishman is on Netflix. I really enjoyed it a lot and seem it 3 times which is rare for me. Its based on a true story of Mobster Danny Greene (Ray Stevenson) ignites a turf war in 1970s Cleveland that leads to the collapse of the Mafia in several major U.S. cities.

6 episodes in to iron fist and fuck this is poor. And the reason it is so bad all falls on the shoulders of The guy who plays Danny Rand. It's really sad and I feel for the actor but he just isn't pulling it off at all.

Yes. Yes. This is pleasant, enjoyable, unthreatening television. Good recommendation, thank you.

@Rivuzu its even better if you think of him as a mentally ill dude with an imaginary friend who goes on the piss every day.

I was into it as a premise but his reaction to beer completely sold me on it

    This show is wonderful

Pumaman or pooma-man is also a good one. You will never get the theme music out of your head though.

So i finished Iron Fist this morning.

I mean it's ok. I don't think all of the hate is justifiable, but it's not super duper.

But then Jessica Jones wasn't either. Not the last few episodes of Luke Cage. Or all of season two of Daredevil.

These shows just have horrible pacing more than anything.

Blitzed through Travelers recently and I really enjoyed it. The central conceit takes a bit of time to not seem ridiculous and it does a good job of justifying itself. Good cast of characters and the different relationship strands all have merit. Very excited for another episode.

Unrelated to that, has anyone watched the second series of Bloodline? I enjoyed most of the first series but cant seem to dredge up enthusiasm for the second as it seems like it doesn't have anywhere to go.

Nope :( Started episode 1, but got sidetracked. Reviews seemed lukewarm in comparison too, so there was other stuff I wanted to finish first.

It seems to me like it will just end up with a crime and punishment plotline and I hate that book.

@askew the last season before it was cancelled tailed off really badly though. I used to love watching it but gave up on that one.

@Frogofdoom Hmm, the truncated S3 with the Red Dragon storyline, or S2 and Mason Verger? With the former I suppose they really had to rush to tie things up.
