    @K-Project

    Did they ever explain why the electricity or mobile phones were still working? I'm sure I must have missed an explanation somewhere.

    Watched all of Black Spot in one sitting(in the original French with subtitles - they feel like the were translated by a French person into English as phrasing seems a little off in places).

    It's ok, particularly if you like forests, realistic setting with small possibly supernatural elements hinted at. I think I preferred the series called "The Forest" overall. The payoff to one of the main story threads of this series was a bit weak and series ends on a cliffhanger which was a bit unsatisfying, although new series incoming on 14th apparently.It'll be interesting to see if they go further into the whole Forest is alive, Forest god thing in the second series.

    Puzzling over where it's supposed to be set, feels very American/Canadian with alot of guns etc but it was filmed in France/Belgium.

    I'd forgotten how happy watching Happy makes me :-) The new season is fantastic so far.

    Someone asked about I Am Mother in the previous page, and F'ing hell, this movie caught me off guard.

    Takes elements from Alien, The Terminator (1 and 2), Moon and iRobot. Special effects gets a bit ropey later, and final act gets a bit overly dramatic, but beyond that it's easily my fav sci fi of the year so far. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

    I Am Mother was seriously reminding me of certain plot elements of Horizon:Zero Dawn but I was disappointed when the machine turned out to be EVIL(again)! While I don't support wiping out the vast majority of the human race I did rather want her plan to succeed and and the inevitability of how the plot played out was kind of annoying. Should it really be that easy to open the bloody door to the outside?

    I thought by the it seemed that was the plan from the get go? That Sarah Swank Ripley was also part of Mother's plans, as she alludes that she too was from the lab. And it was all part of Mother's plan and training for Daughter.

    @The-Bodybuilder

    You're probably right. I think I did pay a lot less attention as it progressed so I possibly missed that.

    Nah, it's bang average.

    Which, to be fair, puts it high up in the Netflix movie rankings.

    Can recommend the Spanish series High Seas for anyone in the market for something slightly lighter and Agatha Christie-esque.

    Entertaining fare, don't expect to see it winning loads of awards or anything though...

    Oh, speaking of end of the world movies, the algorithm dished up Night of The Comet the other day if anyone fancies a grade A B-Movie.

    The Dirt is actually pretty good if you're into that sort of thing. Reading up on it, it looks as though a lot of it is at least mostly trueish, although as with all of these biopics, they take massive liberties with the timelines and locations of some of the events. Well worth a watch.

    Anyone caught the sandler/Aniston combo murder mystery yet? Trailer looked like fun and worth a look.

    No but the trailer did look better than his usual schtick.

    Guardian quite liked it and said it was indeed better than his usual schtick. But like Game Night.

    Aniston seems to be going a bit Kathleen Turner.

    She's at kind of the transitional phase. Although I never really prescribed to Aniston as hot.

    She is 50 so I'll cut her some slack, it's just weird as she looks like a normal female of that age rather than what you expect from the de-aging super humans you usually see so is probably a positive thing now we're all body positive.

    Film was dreck unsurprisingly. Not a patch on Game Night.

    I was kind of in love with Jennifer Aniston when I was a young man so seeing her head get bigger and squarer year on year is kind of heartbreaking for me.

    She was just about right in horrible bosses, donít know about the sequel.
    If sheís 50 now sheís still got a hell of set of pins.

    Am I the only one here that believes humans are incapable of governing themselves and now that AI is within reach we should let it rule us? I was rooting for Vicky in I, Robot.

    Yeah, thatís what I thought as well and thatís why I rated the film so high some pages back after giving it all some thought.
