No nothing like that. It flits between bad bad, so bad it's good and genuinely good. Fight scenes are very well put together.

Oh god, this is spot on. "A Big Trouble in Little China fan film produced by Tommy Wiseau"

Wu Assassins isn't the only worthwhile new Netflix original. The Naked Director is also up and is definitely my preference of the two, though obviously very different.

Haha oh it definitely wins the battle of the tits. It's the apparently true story of a guy who "attempts to turn Japan's porn industry on its head" in the early 80s. Quite light and fun so far but very well written. No tentacles as yet.

Heh, just read a conspiracy theory that the OA is cancelled as part of an elaborate 'its all in the real world now' mind bend and it will come back in a different format.

I can't see "Wu Assassins" without thinking of the Deadwood exchange. To paraphrase

    Al "Who are these cocksuckers?"
    Wu "Wu?!"
Al "Not Wu, WHO, WHO, Wu"

Damn I miss that show, still better than anything I've seen since.

Not Netflix I know. Blame Wu.

Ok just seen the new wu assassins trailer and it looks decent, totally different than the girly trailer they put up before though, the scoundrels.

God it's dumb. In a fun way, sure, but (and I can't believe I'm saying this) it's even dumber than Warrior. And the music is shit, especially when it's playing in the middle of a cool fight scene.

Love the fighting, of course. Iko even does a passable job on the English.

    Does Happy get... Good?

I'm four episodes in and it's alright, but the concept is really interesting and I'm waiting for it to deliver. Instead it's trying too hard and not really hitting home, and the gags are already starting to be reused.

Do I persevere or give up at this point?

The Wu action scenes are enough to carry it, and the shots of SF are amazing if you know the city at all

Blown Away ... is something different.

who knew that glass blowers could be so snarky but that aside, some of the close up slo-mo shots were brilliant.

I thought Glow was a nice show about putting on a musical or something, turns out it's really about wrestlers and shagging (eww gross).

Mrs F_P and I enjoyed Blown Away - we also loved some of the glass blowing terminology - mainly puntys and Glory Holes :)

Yeah. It's not perfect but I really enjoyed it from episode 1.

If you're not feeling it by episode 4 I'd ditch it as it more of the same for the rest of the season and S2.

I loved Happy, but if it hasn't clicked by episode 4 then bin it as it doesn't do much different later.

Yeah it's childish but it definitely raised a smile each time they said it.

I am binning Happy off in the second series. I quite enjoyed the first but the second hasn't landed that well for me.

Yeah I read this. Really not sure anything will come from it but after that ending I won't discount anything. And Kaufman isn't dead either

Thanks for all the Happy responses. I'll probably bin that off now. Not unenjoyable, though.

The new Rocko's Modern Life special is all over the place, all the satirising of modern tropes fall flat and the transgender subplot is really uncomfortable but it is a nice nostalgic trip to see that manic 90s Nickelodeon for a one off.

Now I want to download the Toejam & Earl reboot to play through this evening.

Ok, so that is in the bag and what a feel good, happy ride that was. All these characters which we've become attached to over two seasons get their pay-offs and roads to closure and healing. Still a lot of loose ends for a season four thankfully, but a well crafted piece of TV, dusted with humanity and warmth. Funny, touching, carefully dealing with gender politics and sexuality in a very knowing way.

Do give this a go if you've never seen it. A show about wrestling that proves you don't need violence to entertain.
