Saw ep1 of Criminal, good. Similar in style to The Interrogation radio drama for any that haven't heard it. Very good. Some of series 7 is still on iPlayer.

    Just Started The Blacklist

I like it a lot. Not one of my top 25 shows (I watch a lot of TV) but I'm a big James Spader fan and really enjoy his Reddington Character. Show gets a little muddled and side-tracked with side characters and side plots S3-S4 but it seems to be getting back to the roots that we enjoyed in the first 2 seasons. Lots of good plot twists, stakes are pretty high for everyone by the current season.vidmate.vet/[/color]

It is indeed. Trying my best not to start it before my housemate gets home

Sorry guys. Netflix said "watch season 4 now" so I assumed it was the whole lot. 1st episode is ace though.

Started watching The Good Place on Netflix and I think it's very... meh-tastic so far (3 episodes in) Not a single laugh or even a chuckle, not a good sign for a comedy.

Ted Danson is good but feels underused, Kristen whatsherface seems to have been put in because she's popular above all else (I don't think she's bad, for the record) and the rest of the cast range from uninteresting at best to outright annoying at worst.
The British/Indian lady + Buddhist monk couple in particular make me cringe more than anything else when they're on, for example.

Does it get better or should I just abandon this?

Finish it. It is one of those shows where the last episode of the first season suddenly makes everything before 10 times better.

It took me a 2nd attempt as I didnít love the 1st few episodes. Iím glad I stuck with it though as itís now one of my favourite shows. In other words, donít give up.

Whilst The Good Place gets a lot better that you didn't find a single laugh is weird. I thought it was amusing but disposable at first. Kristen Bell is great.

Conversely I don't think it gets much better. It definitely doesn't get much funnier. It arguably gets more narratively interesting, but even then, not much.

It definitely gets funnier imo, especially Janet. Also Derek.

    Hmm, okay, I'll persevere then.

I must admit comedy is one of the genres I'm most selective about but when it hits the nail on the proverbial head it can have me in absolute stitches.

For example, Monty Python, Blackadder, Bottom, most Zucker-Abraham-Zucker output are outright fantabulous as far as I am concerned. Anything with Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller or Will Ferrel in it (yes, even including Anchorman) deserves a separate and horrible ring in hell on the other hand.

I have to admit I was in a weird mood when I watched it. Hence my asking. If you all told it was more of the same or, god forbid, worse later on I would've given up.

Well the former list happens to be some of the best comedy ever written, whereas the latter is irredeemable shit written for dribblers that have the IQ of a bulldog.

Not sure you can take the intellectual high ground with a list that includes Bottom.

Good question. Loved Season 1 but the whole DC doing their own streaming service thing has me wondering :/

High ground... Bottom... I see what you did there.

Seriously though, it has a couple of absolutely ace episodes IMO. The carnival/looting one, the camping bit, the one with the burglar (is that the same as one I already mentioned? It's been too long) have hilarious moments for me.

And you can't truthfully deny it's miles above anything like, say, Night at The Nauseum.

That was more aimed at the "other comedy is for people with low IQ's". I like seeing people getting hit in the balls with a frying pan as much as the next man but it's not exactly Tolstoy.

    The Let Down

An Aussie (or Kiwi) comedy about parenthood. If you have kids (and can remember what it was like when they were babies), this should have you in fits of laughter. Some pretty dark moments break up the comedy but it is definitely one of the funniest shows Iíve watched in ages. Not sure non-parents will enjoy it quite as much as they likely wonít relate but Iíd recommend it anyway.

FYI it has a fair amount of swearing and sex scenes so definitely not one to be watched around the kids.
