Art of self defence 4/10 Dark comedy, a few chuckles but that's about
all. Was hoping for something better.

    * not on Netflix, my bad, but give it a month and it will be

About 20 years ago, one lazy Christmas, I remember devouring an amazing documentary series as it was on each morning. Just found it on Netflix- The West.
Really incredibly well researched, sourced and presented tale of the forming of the U.S., from the first Spanish landing to the Battle Of Wounded Knee. Total pleasure to drink it in again after all these years (and in all of its 4:3 glory).

Plenty of other great Ken Burns docs on there as well. The war and the civil war are worth a look, I also really liked the one on the Roosevelts.

For food fans: new David Chang series "Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner" follows on from "Ugly Delicious".

For Mads fans: Arctic is on the service now. 90 minutes of wintery survival and few words.

Is that Daybreak thing basically a modern update of Channel 5's The Tribe?

ďTheĒ implies some sort of effection. Daybreak looks like a shit Todd and the book of evil. Without Jason meues.

    Happy to be proven wrong

Marianne. Recommended. More terrifying than Hill House, and the supficial similarities are in no way negs.. Stick with it. Grind past ep 2 (which is a pretty blunt pre-builder for what's to come) and then be rewarded.

    Watched 'Baby Driver'

Stylishly shot. Cool music. Good performances.
Not much of a plot and goes a bit daft towards the end.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up

It's also great for tuning/demoing your surround sound. Aside from the obvious, it does really cool stuff like showing his tinnitus and when someone talks to him and he removes an earbud, the music moves over to the same side of the soundstage as the one left in his ear.

Itís definitely worth a second/third/fourth watch as itís absolutely stuffed with really neat little touches.

I've seen it a couple of times now and the sound stuff is great. Just the story and lead actors left me cold.

In terms of sheer production it's fabulous, that's kind of why my disappointment is so pronounced. When so much is excellent yet you are left cold it's just a bit more deflating.

Definitely. Deadpool is also great for sound. Watched both loads of times as the mix really adds to the enjoyment.

    Safety not guaranteed

A quirky little sci fi romantic comedy with a pretty stellar cast by today's standards. Went way above expectations, to what is now one of those hidden gems that becomes a favourite.

    9/10

    Great film

Just watched Ingrid Goes West with the same actress. Its a brilliant performance by her on quite a quirky single white female vibe.

I had a lot of fun

    7/10

    It's certainly ruining my engagement

Currently watching The Right One with Rockwell and Kendrick. It's like a sweet nor offbeat Grosse Point Blank.

No I can see clearly now the rain has gone

I tried it, didn't get on with it.

Trying out Baby Driver in light of initial judgement

Baby Driver certainly had better production but a lot less heart and charisma between the leads.
