Yes. It's a different style to Sopranos or The Wire, with narration guiding you through but definitely worth a watch. I've not watched all of S3 or any of Mexico, but S1 and S2 were brilliant

If you enjoyed the first couple of seasons, you'll like Mexico 1 and (what I've seen of) 2. They're not trying anything new, and in my opinion that's a good thing.

Yeah, it's on the list. S3 just didn't grab me in the same way as the Escobar ones.

Giri/Haji was excellent and hugely undersold when it was on telly
Was really enjoying this until episode 5 which had a series of dodgy plot turns such as ridiculous coincidences which made it harder to take seriously :(
Hereís hoping the last 3 donít continue like that

DragonQuest your story 9/10 Totally surprised to find this absolutely sublime. Transcendent animation with an adorable and surprising story. Tons of nods to gaming as you might expect. Amazing. Netflix is becoming an animation force.

Hmm, Netflix have done several "modern" reboots of animated series already and none (that I've watched) were particularly good so I'm not holding my breath.

Netflix didn't actually produce it did they? I thought they just bought the international distribution rights outside of Japan?

Ah, probably, dunno the specifics, but whoever is sourcing this stuff for their platform is doing a good job.

I live here. It's great. Don't mind the fear mongering.

Unless you plan on getting involved with the cartels, then yeah, bad idea.

Mexico is sketchy and awesome, just like every country in the world.

I'd live there before the US

Wanting to go to Mexico in the next year. Never got on with the food though. All that guacamole, sour cream and refried bean muck can go in the bin. Rice in wraps? Why?

It also sounds like you're referring to burritos, which you don't get here. Or at least they're not common at all apart from the northern states bordering the USA.

The main time I had it was in California. Was bloody everywhere there. Just everything had a side of refried beans, which is basically just Mexican version of mushy peas. Did have good chicken and steak Fajitas one place, but wasn't fond of much else.

Wouldn't touch those Burrito fast food places.

The annoying thing is that Yanks kand Canadians, to be fair) say that Britain doesn't have good Mexican food, which is right but neither do we. We have some places which make nice tacos, but that's not good Mexican food.

    Mole poblano FTW

Shit, did I ecosse this thread

Really haven't seen much in the way of Mexican food here in Toronto, except the barrage of burrito fast food. There's a bar at the bottom of my street which does Mexican food mostly and is popular, but it looks like a dive.

I've also had the best steak and best sushi I've ever had here in Mexico. The steak up in Nuevo Leon is just incredible. And you can get a top of the line rib eye for around £18. Best hamburger too now I think of it, in a little place called Bonita in Tulum.

To loop this back to Netflix and stop spamming the thread with Mexitalk, you should check out taco chronicles on Netflix for a proper idea of the food down here.

You can't even walk down the street in Mexico without getting carteled.

Mexicali is like Tex-Mex, not really any kind of authentic and usually chain/franchise chud. You need to find the out of the way places that are owned by mom and pop immigrants for anything close to decent Mexican in the US. Same with most cuisines. Yeah, Cheesecake Factory does an okay Cuban Sandwich, but the pokey Cuban place owned by actual Cubans a mile down the road knocks it the fuck out the park.

Cochinita pibil is so much better than smoked pulled pork.

    Steet. Food.

Mexican food pisses on US cuisine. It has an actual long, proud history, vibrance and good, zingy AF flavours.

Stupid folk still banging on about gourmet burgers, when you've got Latino food so good on the doorstep.

I think my Netflix membership elapsed.

Street food is indeed the business. I get tacos de suadero at the end of the block for 10 peso each, pretty wonderful.

I love pozole (corn soup), I don't think I've ever seen that outside Mexico.

    Something something Netflix
