    @TechnoHippy

I'm not hopeful because they seem to be concentrating on the stuff I didn't really like. Basically all the bits they changed from the original book.

I agree to an extent, but the second book was a mess and I gave up on the them after that, the second series of the show is much stronger, but follows the show, so I get why you won't like it.

To be honest I can barely remember what happened in the second book and I never even bothered with the third. I really don't mind an adaptation being pretty different as long as it's interesting and is true to the spirit of the thing it's adapting but this seemed to completely change the central character's motivation and origins to the opposite of how they started.

Having said that, there was plenty of to like in the first series but I kind of tuned out every time it explored Kovacs' past and relationship with Falconer and her group. I'm definitely going to give season 2 a go despite that.

Not so much a recommendation, but The Stranger is such bobbins. Watched the first episode, and my wife has had it on in the background, it's awful shite.

It gets worse too the further you get into the show. I watched the entire thing for some reason and itís absolute shite. I canít believe it has got such good reviews and some decent word of the mouth recommendations too. It was terrible.

Personally I quite enjoyed it - far from the best thing ever, but reasonably entertaining.

Yeh, it was ok but the ending felt a bit rushed.

Apollo II is mesmerising, captivating, awe inspiring. No narration, just (I believe) NASAís own footage mixed in with news etc. Itís of incredible quality.
One to drink in and marvel that it ever happened.

I've read quite a few of Harlen Coben's stuff and always quite enjoyed it. But I couldn't get on with this at all. Looked nice though

Just finished season 2 of Lost in Space. I found it be much better than the first season - mainly because more happened and the characters were less annoying

    7/10

So much of it was padding and some of it made no sense at all. Also some of the casting surely has to be questioned. Those ďkidsĒ were anything but. The girl looked around 22 or 23, and the chemistry between them was non-existent. Plus it took up about 35 per cent of the total show time for essentially no reason at all once their plot line played out.

I wonder how many other Cohenís are being adapted. I thought this one was better and marginally less convoluted than Safe but there are a ludicrous number of twists and turns before a handbrake turn into a finish which screamed of Ďfuck it, Iíve got a deadline, he did it, the end.í

    Altered Carbon S1 & S2 - 9/10

Possibly my favourite sci-fi series of the last decade or so, and although it's not as broad and well rounded as the Expanse, I find I enjoy AC more. Critically the consensus seems to be that it's considered merely good rather than great, so perhaps I'm in the minority.

Unless you have a particular aversion to hard sci-fi I'd encourage everyone to give it a go, especially if you have a Dolby Vision capable 4k TV as it looks and sounds astonishing. Season 1 is particularly Blade Runner inspired and gets remarkably close to the look and feel of a movie.

The new season is excellent and builds on the first even if the scope is smaller, presumably as the budget was more limited. The stack/sleeve/AI technology is just so intriguing and there are enough ideas that are unique, even if similar concepts have been seen elsewhere. Like all the best sci-fi, the moral and ethical implications of advancement are often the most interesting aspect.

It does feel like we need more people to watch and positively rate this on Netflix, otherwise, it could become yet another sci-fi series canned too soon.

Without spoilers, I can provide reassurance that S2 has a satisfying conclusion so even if it isn't renewed it's still absolutely worth your time investment.

I really enjoy Altered Carbon too. It's maybe my second favourite sci-fi show. Certainly my second favourite of recent years. It is miles behind The Expanse though, even with me much preferring cyberpunk. The writing in AC is nowhere near as good and the show often feels a bit silly and over-eager to devolve into punching things. Still an 8/10 though for me.

Yeah it's quite shite. Hugely disappointing how it starts with all these bizarre and major questions and sub-plots only to find out they're not interconnected at all and the explanations to them are midsummer murder mundane

Also why is she still on then run when the fed said no one pressed charges against her in fear of what she knows?

Castlevania S3 has to be one of my fav "animes" (technically isn't as wholly American made.....on a japanese IP...that's based on a European book).

Doesn't try to build on S2 as...where do you go post-Dracula, but tells smaller intimate stories. Still feels like should be more than 10 episodes and does lack and over-arching narrative.

I really don't mind the style, just hope the story is not bobbins. For me the series never really captured the noir sci fi I got from the first book.

It depends on how well its done. The newish Saint Saya on netflix is unwatchable.

And, yeah, S3 of Castlevania is really good. It really doesnt fuck around. The penultimate episode of the series is absolutely balls out hardcore.

Halfway through Unbelievable. It's absolutely tremendous. Definite recommendation if you like cop/detective stuff. Merritt Weaver and Toni Collette are ace.

Yeah, it's absolutely gut wrenching and sickening but really well done.
