Just started When They See Us. Ooooof, I know you're supposed to be outraged, but man it made me angry. And I've only seen the first 30 mins

Seems reasonable. I have to say I couldn't finish the first episode, if was just too stupid and people being taken at face value when they're clearly nutters.
The thing is, she comes across as just as mental as the rest of them. It's entirely plausible she killed her husband.

I'd stick with it as its entertaining.

Thereís definitely a lot more face eating than I would have expected of something adapted from a NES game.

Is anyone else having problems with image quality as of late? Netflix would be fine all day, until about 9pm (CET) when the stream drops down to 240p. Last night we watched an episode of BCS starting around 8.30pm, full HD no problem - the second episode though starting after 9pm never exceeded 240, so we gave up in the end (restarting the app didn't improve things).

Ran a speedtest via my phone (Netflix is played on the PS3 hooked up via ethernet cable) and my connection was rock solid, so can't be my ISP really.

This happened twice now (Saturday and Tuesday) and I'm wondering if they throttle bandwidth at busy times or it's really just significantly increased traffic as people are not going out - I read about Netflix & Youtube announcing quality drops to SD, but 240 is absolutely brutal to look at, so if that's the deal for the foreseeable future I may just have to cancel my sub for a while.

    @KnuttinAtoll

Sure I read they're dropping the quality at peak times due to global demand from all the lockdowns everywhere. Xbox Live and PSN have implemented similar measures.

@richardiox I thought that SD is around 480p which I guess I could live with (as long as the price reflects that which I'm sure it won't) but 240 is really rough. You basically struggle to recognise much of the detail so I'd rather not watch at all. Reminds me a bit of ye olde VHS tapes of copies over copies with lots of artifacts etc.

Can't say I've seen a sip on quality in anything, still looks 4k to me. I'm on Virgin though, not sure if that makes any difference.

Will see if it's the same again tonight. As I said it happened only those two times, my wife tends to binge on series during the weekend and didn't have issues during the day - and I imagine that's peak time in APAC.

Yeah, definitely seen some drop off - particularly in areas of low contrast/detail such as shadows or skies. Macro blocking?

It's really noticeable - in the PS3 app if I press the select button it shows me the bit rate and resolution which is stuck at 240 that's how I know what resolution it's streaming at.

It assumes you donít care about resolution if the Netflix app is running on a PS3.

I know joke haha lol but in all fairness the console is still a rock solid media player. Didn't see any reason to replace it so far and I own it since 2009.

Tried another device? If it's not Netflix, it might be your ISP throttling traffic

@Dougs we watched another episode, at 1080p until shortly after 9 where it dropped to 240 again, so finished the final 10 minutes at that quality (with lots of buffering which is unusual). Seems like someone's flipping a switch and my internet speed seems ok otherwise. Oh well.

Edit - tried on my phone, and seems to play fine. Which is strange because I'm on the same network. Unless the fact I'm logged via PSN means Sony is throttling? That sounds silly though so can't be, surely.

New series of Sunderland Til I Die went up today.

First series is probably the best and most moving football documentary Iíve ever seen so Iím really looking forward to this.

@mrpon my question wasn't so much why there's throttling, I'm well aware, but whether it would be throttled via PSN if I just stream Netflix. If that's how app network usage on consoles work then fair enough.

My TV app still seems to be playing back at 1080p but at a bitrate of 0.37Mbps which is really bad. It was at 0.6 last week and that's already way down on what it was.
The picture generally holds up ok but occasionally there's some pretty bad macroblocking.

I don't mind them reducing quality to help out but are they expecting us to keep paying full price for a degraded service?

My bitrate was stuck at 0.11 earlier, just for comparison.

I just came across fast.com which is Netflix affiliated and works like speedtest it seems. 38mbps so no issue there.

Weren't they also going to up rates this month? Given where we are they should indeed reduce it, temporarily at least.

Looks like Netflix has got rid of all its Slow TV. Super bummer when Iím finally starting to tire of the view of allotments and pigeon lofts from my bedroom window.

Theyíre just super meditative and still to have one when you need something in the background or a nice quiet stare.

Iím lucky enough to live in a village with countryside around it but I need a change in view and to switch off with.
