Anyone been watching Reckoning? A single series of 8 episodes each 45mins about a cop trying to catch a serial killer, pretty good so far, first episode wasn't the best not helped that the lead cop and the seemingly obvious suspect look pretty similar (I think that's probably on purpose) but it's been easy to watch and actually a little humourous which is nice for a change.

I'm a couple of episodes into The Spy and it's decent so far. I've not seen him in a serious role before and he's doing well.

Guillermo del Toroís Wizards is better than you might expect. Writing is a step above most of these things and accessible for big and small kids alike. Though not a fan of the animation style. Decent

I'm looking forward to Wizards. Troll Hunters and 3Below were both great.

@TechnoHippy Started watching this but then seemed to lose interest about episode 6, probably should have stuck with it.

@TechnoHippy Finished this the other day, quite enjoyed this, not overly complicated for a change like many of these series' are. At the end my wife and I thought the ending was a bit crap but actually after sleeping on it I changed my mind and thought it was pretty good. Mrs Mercury still disagrees.

The Fall seems pretty good so far. A step up from the usual BBC drama type shit.

Shits itself at the end of s2 to stretch out to another final shitty season.

The usual BBC drama will always find a way.

    Good first season though.

@freddymercurystwin I'm on 6 or 7 (He's just been arrested) and I do appreciate that it hasn't gone the convoluted approach and stuck with a relatively simple and effective story (so far).

Finished umbrella academy season 2 yesterday. I enjoyed it overall, but i mentioned it a page or so ago. I actively hate the montage or fight scenes that play out over popular tracks. The scene that plays out over backstreets back in particular can fuck right off. They couldn't of picked a song that matched what was happening on screen less if they tried. Bizarre.

Yeah, I struggled with it, to be honest. They started off with era-appropriate songs then just went full anime-fan montage and set everything to a pop song.

I dunno... I find the tone kind of grating and the characters to be the kind of ones I hope *dont* get out of life and death situations.

Its just a bit in love with itself, which is fine if you buy into it, but I dont think I do. This series took the things I found annoying from the first series and turned them up full blast.

The people that make it definitely think they're alot smarter than they are. Puts me in mind of that onion video where they interview the writer of fast and furious.

I find the choice of music weird in a lot of Netflix shows. Wu Assassins and Warrior Nun both had the same problem where the music in some scenes just clashed with the vibe they seemed to be trying to create.

They were both shit shows though so maybe that's the more significant factor.

For most of those the song has to do all of the heavy lifting because the show is bereft of any artistic talent. I mean, how many times have you heard 'bad reputation' kick in before a painfully mediocre fight scene?

As much as Im not really feeling UA, the sequences were all beautifully and creatively shot. It just overdosed on them.

Looks like Hellsing Ultimate dropped today, which is nice.

It doesnt have any awkward high school boys learning to cope with new and mysterious powers but you have to just make do sometimes.

I've read that the writer or showrunner or whoever is responsible picked the track before writing the scene too, so it is a bit odd that they don't make it gel a bit more.

Me and the missus have been watching one or two episodes a night of dark. A few episodes into season 2 and loving it so far. I'd definitely recommend.

One of my favourite shows of recent years. It also has some fantastic character montages along the way.

I'm just about to start Umbrella Academy, so already prepared to be disappointed on that front!

    I'm enjoying Umbrella Academy.

Still think Dark is a relentless slog through Misery.

Clearly I'm at odds with the forum.

Yeah, did two episodes of UA last night and I'm definitely hooked already. Completely wrote it off last year for some reason that I can't even remember, but so glad that I've given it a chance now.

    Iím enjoying Umbrella Academy 2

My biggest gripe is that (on my set up anyway) it swings from slightly quiet talking to absolutely booming music so weíve got to keep the remote handy to keep adjusting the volume to keep it comfortable.

I donít think itís just our set up though as Alex Rider and Picard both did it but most shows donít.

Is it a misguided attempt to feel cinematic?

I think Dark is one of the best things I've ever watched. Watched it through again with the Mrs and she loves it too which was good but slightly surprising.

I don't want to go on about it too much* but I think Dark has an incredibly intricate structure and is very well made.

It's just I can't say I enjoyed being in the company in any of the characters and I found the relentless angst and doom a bit heavy-handed. It felt all a bit melodramatic to me.

*That's a lie, I enjoy moaning about it because I really wanted to like it :p

    @drhickman1983
I'd probably agree with you. For me, The main problem I had was that I just didn't get the main love story at all.
And it ended up being far too intricate for its own good.
    There's lots to like though.

    Project Power 7.5/10

Sort of limitless pill gives you 5 mins only of super powers. New Orleans falls victim to the drug and Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have to sort it out although they have their own agendas too.
ItS got some great special effects and plenty of action but the dialogue and plot occasionally dip well into B-movie territory. Itís a 2 hour film, donít know if thereís plans to make it into a TV series if itís popular, but well worth a watch. Just donít expect too much.
