It's a bit like a Junji Ito graphic novel brought to the screen. Entertaining, pretty light weight, some great and some terrible effects. I binged the whole thing.

Some extremely questionable CGI aside, it's an enjoyable enough watch. Didnt grab me as much as Alice In Borderland which came out at a similar time. There were several moments in Sweet Home where I thought just what the fuck were they thinking. For those who watched it, its the use of Imagine Dragons for big dramatic moments. Completely ruins each moment it happens.

Registered 8 years agoWas thinking about starting Sweet Home, looks decent enough. I need more Alice in Borderland though, I really enjoyed it.
Third series of Ash vs Evil Dead is on there now in case anyone's missed it. Fucking hell I love that show.
Watched that Cecil Hotel doc as well. It as quite interesting but went on for faaaaar too long. Should have been 60-90 mins tops. -

I still can’t believe how well the show captures the vibe and feel of the movies. I was so skeptical when I first started watching but its such a blast.

I've been watching Travelers and I'm actually really enjoying it. Essentially, it's about "Travelers" from the future having their psyche sent back through time, into the bodies of people who were about to die, so that they can then work in the past towards preventing an apocalypse.
It starts off a bit dry, but as the characters start to become a bit defined it starts to become very enjoyable. And whilst it is a serial, it does feel quite episodic at times which I enjoy a lot. I also like how it handles exposition, not too many big info dumps of explanatory dialogue (I mean, you get some, but less than you might expect).
Anyway, Im 3/4 of the way through season 2, released in 2017, and there's a whole storyline about a viral pandemic, and it just took me by surprise and felt far more relevant than the writers could have ever imagined.
Of course, it being Netflix it only ran for 3 seasons, but my friend informed me that they at least managed to conclude it. But yeah, I'm finding it unusually good, even though it did take a few episodes to get going.

Registered 16 years agoI think Travellers was the first really decent Netflix original I watched. On the surface, it was weapons grade B Tier canadian SyFy Original but it really had a spark.
It got a bit all over the place with the premise towards the end but the conclusion was genuinely satisfying. -

Registered 8 years agoYeah, there was something weirdly indefinable that made Travellers better than the sum of its parts.
The characters were all pretty distinct and well written, I suppose. -

Registered 16 years agoTo The Lake. A Russian series based on a book apparently.
Residents of Moscow are infected with an unknown deadly virus, the main symptoms of which are coughing and discoloration of the eyes, and after three to four days, death occurs.
I wasn't sure about it at first but it didn't take long to hook me in and ended up watching all eight episodes and can't wait for Season 2. -

Registered 20 years agoIf you haven't seen McMafia, I just noticed it was on Netflix (sure it wasn't last time I looked), but is going soon, 8th April I think.
British/Russian, financial crime, mafia etc. Might turn out to be a documentary about the Conservatives.

Registered 6 years agoI didn’t realise it had even been added. It was decent as far as the Beeb does that sort of thing. They must’ve spent millions on it. -

Registered 6 years agoI tried to watch The One last night. Well, my partner wanted to watch it, so I put up with it for all over 5 minutes before I'd had enough. Utter, utter, shite. Painfully exposition-tastic, and a completely un-original idea to begin with. -

Travelers was fucking brilliant, loved it. Have you got to the episode that starts with a sky-dive? That was absolutely epic.

Registered 4 years ago@Dougs I didn't get that at all from Malcolm and Marie. I turned off marriage story about half way through as it was utterly depressing. M&M is much more. Sure there is lots of fighting but there is humour, love, forgiveness etc. Plus it is beautifully acted and shot. -

Registered 14 years agoI started M&M but turned it off after 20 minutes as it wasn't doing anything for me. I should probably give it another try as on paper it's exactly my kind of film. Marriage Story I loved. -
Marriage story to me was utterly depressing because I could relate to a lot of it. I was miserable by about the half way mark and wondered why the hell I was watching it.
M&m reminded me of a tarrentino movie because I was just loving the dialogue from start to finish.
