Seriously, if the 'next-gen' can't handle some fucking anti-aliasing, what is the point? Not very impressive at all.

Yeah, I've heard that but I'm glad I'll have an opportunity to try this out on PS+ without buying it.

looks really nice, the lighting is really tastefull. The cold blues just as the sun sets are fantastic.

Just saw a comment from the devs saying that they have point to point races that stretch for miles. Now that's the stuff!

Also not pitched as a sim, fun racer instead.

I think this looks a lot nicer than Forza. The lighting engine is far superior.

It does look nicer every time I see a new vid but still someway off forza imo,  i do understand that forza uses a lot of pre backed tricks that are done in real time on drive club but don't see the point or doing it re time unless it looks better?   I know that the devs have a record for pulling out the stops last minute on their Motorstorm games.

The cars look nicer in Forza. That shot where the sun bakes the tarmac in that last video is gorgeous though.

DriveClub reminds me more of Forza Horizon than anything else and seeing as I LOVE Horizon, I'll probably like this.

... those sunset skies are breathtaking!
  • Deleted user 16 September 2013 21:15:24
This should look better than Forza, it's running at half the frame rate and doesn't have a complex physics engine running behind the scenes. Both very different games with different aims.

I thought it was targeting 1080p60?

    Shut the fuck up!

You can't go two minutes on this forum at the moment without someone trying to second guess the comparative worth of every particle of every game.

Forza number '?' for racing, DriveClub for (pure) driving, if that makes sense?

According to their tweets they are still aiming for 60fps but are n't quite there yet.  Given the improvements they made last minute to Motorstorm pacific rift I don't think it's impossible that they might well achieve this.

I'm not guessing! They said "we are targeting 1080p60", unless someone comes in otherwise, what else can we say?

It's a turd with tyres. This is the most uninspired racer yet conceived. It runs at 30 fps, doesn't look better than the best of current gen, like Forza Horizon, and is going to be released half-finished and drip fed DLC.

It might be enjoyable enough, when there is little competition, but nothing worth waiting for, or worth discussing.

Have the devs confirmed what the maximum number of people per club will be yet?

This is the only racer I will probably play in the next generation and the first one since that free GT demo at the launch of the PS3#. I'm sure it'll be better than that was but as a non-fan of serious racers I am very interested in the way it frequently adds challenges based on other users (friends list?) - this is much more exciting to me than a lighting model.

#note I do enjoy me a kart racer, so not strictly true.

At E3 they said 12 per club was the max.

I think they want to encourage club vs club battles like Fifa, still a low number though. 12 players max online too.

Tell you what would be good for this at some point in the future: rally DLC.

I agree with that - especially give Evo Studios experience with the WRC series.

A newer build demo would have been something they should have done for public consumption, the EG demo is presumably the E3 one and it's not good. A lack of anti-aliasing and being more of a series of challenges than a proper race really put me off it.

Hmm, I found I liked Driveclub, especially from an aesthetic point of view.  It was obvious that it was 30 fps but it never dipped and if that's an old build and they say that the finished game will be 60 fps or close to it, I think I can believe that.

I thought the trackside scenery was really nice, there was lots of it and it was very busy.  I think I prefer that to Forza 5, which although the cars looked absolutely amazing, and the framerate was silky smooth and solid 60 fps,  the track seemed kind of plain and austere, and to my eyes no different to Forza 3 & 4.

I found that Driveclub was a game that my opinion changed about, thanks to the Expo.  I liked it, and if that's an old build then I'm looking forward to the finished game.

This game has looked gradually better from build to build, that's for sure, but it still doesn't look any better to me than Forza 4 or Horizon. Just higher resolution.

Gameplay really doesn't look very compelling either, reminds me of NFS. One of those boring, inbetweeny types of game. If you're going to go more arcadey than sim, at least actually make it fast, over the top, arcade game.
