Netflix isn't great for films, unless you use something like Unblock-US to get access to multiple regions.

@oceanmotion I'd say the service is best for TV and Sports. The movies are the newer but the back catalogue is rather poor.

Stupid question perhaps, but does anyone know if, in the box + pass bundles, I can use the pass myself and hand the unused box on to someone else? The box + 3 month pass is 10 with a telly I've got my eye on, and I was thinking of saving the pass for when GoT starts and palming the box off to my old man.

@BigOrkWaaagh Shouldn't be a problem. The TV pass is just a card with a reedemable code printed on it.
In the past there have been some good deals on the the NowTV boxes. I've got a couple of boxes that I bought primarily for the pass.

In case anyone missed it, there is an NowTV offer for any Chromecast owners.

Damn why are the Sports prices so bad?
  • Deleted user 12 April 2015 15:49:19
    Because Sky are greedy bastards.

To keep people paying for Sky Sports via their Sky sub would have been my answer.

They sent me a code for a 3 sports day pass today. I'm not sure if it's a one time use thing or if I can pass it along but it's worth a shot.

Decided on finally canning Sky and sticking with NowTV for TV purposes (as well as freeview). Saves me a lot of money in the short and long-term, whilst allowing me to watch the likes of Game of Thrones, Walking Dead and other shows. Love it, NowTV is a great service.

The content is good but the apps are absolute shite.

The PS3 one constantly crashes and the one on the little dedicated box frequently hangs when you are watching stuff.

It's a good replacement for sky but the software engineers need a punch in the balls.

I was hoping that had improved somewhat. My Sky box is on its last legs again (only 15 months since being replaced) so was going to go for this. Is it compatible with Chromecast? I'm guessing not...

Edit: Seems it is, but is a bit shit too.

The SkyGo app on PS4 is great. Very stable, barely had issues with it. Not tried the box or PS3.

I think it is, yeah. You can also side load plex onto the box, which makes it a great little streamer.

The windows metro app is ok and the one on the Apple TV is stable enough but the PS3 one is shocking and the dedicated box shits itself more than it should.

I mean it's fine 9/10 but that isn't actually good enough for something you use all the time.

But, content wise I can't fault it. I've nabbed the Netflix login off my dad and give him my nowtv details so between us we got a lot of TV for not much money.

Yeah I'm sharing my parents skygo thing, and along with Netflix it's great.

NowTV is compatible with Chromecast. Annoyingly, the Sky Go app isn't. I want to watch football in bed Sky!

Because they are cunts and want you to buy another sky box and 10 per month multiroom.

They recently disabled skyplayer from working in Chrome and stopped it being able to send to chromecast before that too.

As far as I can tell, it's more or less the same as sky. Box sets are all there and catchup appears after its shown.

Cheers. Will wait until the box properly craps out, but good to know.

The boxes with a 3 month sub cost like 20 quid. It's worth getting one for the bedroom or to whack on an iPad if you don't pay for sky go just to see how you get on.

If you hate it, you're left with a smart little roku box for tuppence.

The last couple of weeks or so mine has just started crashing constantly. It'll just start buffering endlessly and then just black screen until you shutdown the app. Most annoying.

NowTV is excellent, 7 a month for the few Sky channels I was watching, and, although quite annoyingly priced, the Sports day pass works a treat for those of us who have football teams who only play live once in a blue moon.

At some point I've promised myself to start going through GoT on demand, but it looks kinda gay

Oh really? That's shit. We just finished watching Fortitude on catch up and it was great. Quality surprisingly crisp too.

Yeah, it's been absolutely fine up to now, but suddenly just started crapping out. Have resorted to watching on my PC.
