I preordered a PS4 but may cancel if there are no 'oh my god that looks amazing' games at E3.

This may be the first generation I get the Sony console first. (Although if Nintendo release the next 3D Mario beforehand I will probably get a Wii U earlier).

And as for charity I have direct debits of £25 each month.

i read that pre-orders for the xbox one on blockbuster u.k have exceeded pre-orders for the ps4,even though the ps4 was announced in february. once pre-orders open it the u.s.a. i'm assuming the gap will widen. so it seems all the internet fuss was people saying one thing and then doing the exact opposite.
Some excellent social commentary. I see you've got your finger on the pulse where it counts.

I have never pre ordered a console, but often end up picking one up very close to launch anyway.

All this talk about kids buying games day one purchase are not knowing the reason why, well maybe you do but aren't seeing the bigger picture or have forgotten what it's like to be a kid, it's to be one up on their mates getting to know the maps and levelling up and to laugh at them calling them gayfagnoobs, that is all their is to it.

Eurogamer (the forum anyway) is full of grumpy old timers, me included, but these kids need the game day one to out wit their peers, this is why Fifa and CoD sell so well , it's to be the one in front, top of the leaderboard.

That's true enough. But I don't think pre ordering a new console is quite the same thing.

Or people just want to play a game they're excited about and value that over saving a few quid by waiting to buy it?
