So many codes, it's easy to get mixed up!
A registration code is the code you get with the game. The person that bought the game had to register their game to their Club Nintendo account, which unlocked a Referral Code. They then give this Referral Code to a friend who just purchased a 3DS XL.
That friend can then register their separate 3DS XL Registration Code on their Club Nintendo account, which will then allow them to put in the Referral Code.
This Referral Code will unlock yet ANOTHER code, this time for the game itself, which you'd put in on the 3DS eShop on the console itself.
So yes, the referral code is the one you want to get from someone who has the game. I hope that's clear, but reading what I've typed I'm not sure. You definitely just need a Referral Code though, as you already have your lovely new 3DS XL to register.gif)

Registered 5 years ago@DFawkes Oohhh, thankyou for explaining! I've never been so confused about a console before, I normally pick these sorts of things up straight away but this is a whole new thing for me! I've already registered my 3DS to my eShop account -

So there is a website that you can register the nintendo 3ds xl called Club Nintendo, if i put the animal crossing new leaf recommendation code , you will receive in your email the eshop download of the game understand?
is very easy, i just asked your email , password of club nintendo to do this, im here in website all day just to give a code really :/
Only need the email and the password of the Club Nintendo, there is nothing to steal in your account you know, please i really need help and i need your support. -

Registered 5 years agoRight will send you a code, but then when you receive the animal crossing new leaf eshop code in your email, give it to me ok? i lost my animal crossing new leaf game. this is all you need to do first.
Then after you do that i will send you another code for you to put in your club nintendo, so you can get the game in your email to. that is only what i want, can we do this now?
I have two Animal Crossing new leaf codes understand now?

Registered 5 years agoThe two codes are referral understand, you need to put the two codes on your club nintendo, the first code is to get a game to me , the second is yours to get the game to.
Can i send the codes here now?
I know its a confusion but lets get this done.

Now search in club nintendo, and claim that code i gave to you,
they will ask by a email to send the eshop download code put my email:

Registered 10 years ago@Merlene My understanding is you can only use one referral code against one 3DS XL reg code, for one free copy of Animal Crossing. He wants you to waste your 3DS XL reg code to get him a free copy of a game. After that, I don't think you can register another referral code to get yourself a copy. -

I have a recommendation Code for ACNL which I won from an ebay bid right after I got my hands on a code from someone on another forum. knew trading it was gonna be a long shot so just gonna give it away now. first 5 people the PM me will pick the winner with a random number generator. -
