Registered 13 years agoLooks like the complete edition is just £25 on PC from CD Keys, so if you prefer sticking to PC that might be an option? -

Registered 16 years agoI'd just mention that, although account can be played on any platform, you'd still need to buy the client (and expansions) if you changed platforms. So, buying the PS4 version would probably give you everything, but if you picked up on PC again, you'd be unable to go into any expansion content as it only has 2.x data. -

Registered 7 years agoI just picked this up after a couple week break and I become a bit bummed out by it. I just done a couple of dungeons and because I’m new to the game I’m watching the cutscenes but the game carries on and they attempt to do the big boss without me. Both times the battle as been over before I finished the cutscene then I had people having a go at me for it or not being able to tank properly (despite drawing enemies to me etc through out the rest of the dungeon). Great -

Registered 3 years ago@JoelStinty have you got a keyboard attached? If you can, I would recommend just starting each dungeon with a quick message saying this is my first time or some such. Alternatively, I recently just loaded back on and am willing to run interference(am a healer) with any dungeons you have. -

I don’t I’m afraid but it makes clear there is one or more new person to that dungeon if they are playing it for the first time. Oh well. Thanks for the offer, will give you a shout if need be. Thanks

I've been a bit Final Fantasy fan for donkey's years but never played either of the online games precisely because of crap like this. Why the Hell would I want to rush through the story to keep up with other players with their complete lack of patience? Since they gave the base game away for free and there is a free 30 days I might see how far I get solo one day... but I gather it is not far as all dungeons require groups.

Registered 14 years agoIt's because people keep rerunning instances so they skip all the CSs after seeing them for the umpteenth time.
That said, a group I join bickered all the way through, with the tank and mage going at it like hellfire. Don't really get the hostility, but having played other mmos it's unfortunately quite common.
They were nice to me though. I thanked them for the run and left them to it. -

Registered 13 years agoI had a similar situation where the tank pulled while I was watching a cutscene, but he apologised afterwards I’ve found folks to be surprisingly nice and if I mess up they’ve generally told me not to worry about it. I do find groups can rush through the dungeons a bit, but will slow down if you explain you’re new. -

Registered 3 years agoIt is very good practise to say you are new (especially if you are tank or healer) as the group can give you tips on what to do. Unless you have watched a fuck ton of how to guides, some of the mechanics are a big of a mind fuck. -

Registered 7 years agoReading the replies here and a couple of reddit threads it seems to be an unfortunate right of passage. And the dungeon I just did (Thousand Maws- Slyph being captured) seems to be notorious as well as the end bosses of ARR as well. Will see how I feel as the game goes on but it’s definitely irked me. -

Registered 16 years ago@JoelStinty Sorry to hear about the experience - yes Toto-Rak has a badly placed long cutscene just before the boss. Another is the level 41 dungeon. Most other long cutscenes I can think of are at the start or end, so everybody will either be locked in until you finish, or will have already left and it won't be an issue. There are a couple of fights in the final dungeons of 2.0 where people can get out ahead of others due to slight timing discrepancies on the length of the cutscenes in different languages, but not far enough ahead for everything to be dead. -

Registered 6 years agoWith furlough have really been getting back into this. Just completed Heavensward and now starting storm blood. Found a lovely free company and made some friends which has really helped with the furlough and lock down.
The game is positively packed with people. Didn't realise it was so popular in fact. Finding groups is instant and even some (small) login queues at peak times.
Only negative I have to say is how bad ARR content is compared to the newer stuff. Gives a bad impression, but if can get past that the game improves massively. New patch on 11th August should help with that a little bit. Story on front page.

Registered 3 years agoShadowbringers is by far the best content. It’s up there with the best ff story! If you can get there I wholeheartedly recommend it. -

Registered 6 years agoOn Odin here, but doesn't really matter other than Free Companies.
As mentioned can use cross realm link shells.
Do the server groups make any difference though? For example Twinania and Odin are on 'Light' while Louisoix and Ragnarok are on 'Chaos'.
