Interesting looking game, love all the Clancy stuff so I'll be getting this. Interesting that the breakdown trailer mentions Dark Winter, it actually was a wargame scenario pre 9/11 simulating a bioterrorism attack on several shopping malls over thanksgiving. Not big explosions, just several guys dropping vials in places like food courts. The results were.... Apocalyptic. Edited by CaptainKerbal at 21:49:46 12-06-2013 |

I don't see why they wouldn't release a PC version. Once all the willy waving of who has the most pre-orders dies down. -

Registered 8 years agoThis is a fascinating wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biological_warfare
Attacking animals is another area of biological warfare intended to eliminate animal resources for transportation and food.
In the First World War, German agents were arrested attempting to inoculate draft animals with anthrax, and they were believed to be responsible for outbreaks of glanders in horses and mules.
The British tainted small feed cakes with anthrax in the Second World War as a potential means of attacking German cattle for food denial, but never employed the weapon.
In the 1950s, the United States had a field trial with hog cholera.
During the Mau Mau Uprising in 1952, the poisonous latex of the African milk bush was used to kill cattle. -

Actually I find slow pans of the camera make it easier to detect framerate drops, and I can't see any drops during the intro of the demo which contains a long slow pan, so it should at least be a very smooth and stable 30fps. Not ideal, but I find third person cover shooters don't benefit *as much* from 60fps as FPS games do. -

Hi Corvo! Ummm, I'm not sure you've responded to the right person with your post to me so I was a little bit confused
However, I've had a quick scan through the thread seeing as it's only currently 3-pages long and I'm assuming you perhaps meant to respond to INSOMANiAC's post about frame rate here:
INSOMANiAC wrote:
Im a little concerned about the frame rate, these 'in game' demos are alway sure never to move the camera too fast, but with the level of detail in that opening area, I really dont see the framerate being above 30fps, something I was hoping we'd avoid in the 'next gen'. Still, I guess superior graphics vs stable framerate is the trade off we shall always have to live with. -

Registered 17 years agoI thought that was a given already pretty much? For something like that, even ignoring development time required to pull it off, you're gonna want a fairly healthy user base to aim at to cover costs and provide a community of players.
Pity, but without a confirmed PC release no great shakes either way which is a shame because it impressed the hell outta me in the video I watched. -
I've somehow missed all this and just watched the e3 gameplay footage. Wow, the game really looks next gen (I'm assuming this is next gen)! Looked incredible, but was anyone else a little tinged with disappointment when about 2 or 3 minutes in it became clear that the other characters weren't well voice acted AI but were other players? I'm just not a big co-op fan and I tend to find other people ruin the experience for me rather than improve it. Is this multiplayer only? -

Registered 17 years agoIt was interesting actually - for the first couple of minutes I thought "these are some of the most natural AI companions I've heard in a game for ages!" and then, as you say, it became obvious it was just other punters.
As I tend to mainly co-op with people I know, or know from here, it's never an issue. In fact, despite this particular team obviously having read too many of Monsieur Clancy's cooks, this made the game _more_ interesting to me.

Registered 17 years agoAnd yes - this is an online RPG with a persistent world. No single player for you, or I guess just the same flavour as with MMOs and the like where you bimble off on your own and get shivved by a gang of PvP numpties. -

Registered 17 years agoIt did have more than a small sense of Borderlands in a Clancy-esque setting. With more tactical combat, and less crazy loot admittedly.
The old Ghost Recon Vegas games were excellent in co-op (when the engine didn't shit itself). Add in some loot whoring and a persistent world and I'd be all over it on PC.
The gimmickry of the tablet player appearing as a drone was a bit concerning, and suggests a shotgun approach to features rather than a laser sharp focus, but it might turn out to be a genius addition. Certainly it's better than most of the 'second screen' gaming features out there right now. -

@fletch7100 With a short video showing how it should work. Looks ok, but i'm not sure how interesting it's going to be for the tablet player:
