Again, if Battlefront didn't make you 'feel' part of the Star Wars universe, you might want to try KOTOR (that stands for Knights of the Old Republic, if you haven't played it/heard of it). I honestly doubt they'll allocate much to the single player side of this, so you might be disappointed. I'm all for it if they don't compromise the multiplier, which lets face it is the feature most people are interested in.

Um, I'd rather have a SP/co-op campaign in this thanks.

I'm the opposite. I hope they scrap trying to shoe horn in a SP or campaign and just focus on big MP battles. If you want captivating SP Star Wars experience this is the wrong tree to be barking at. Better off calling for a new KOTOR.
I hope this isn't just a big team Vs team MP type thing. Some well thought out SP and co-op campaign type stuff could genuinely make this the best game ever.
Whether it's SP or Co-Op MP isn't so much the point, it's more about feeling part of the actual Star Wars universe as opposed to being given some virtual Star Wars toys to play with. Ultimately that was why Battlefront was lacking. It's a missed opportunity not to have campaigns, even if they're MP only ones. -

Registered 15 years agoPlus, this is DICE. MP is their thing.
I have little hope for BF4's SP. -
I have played KoToR. It has nothing to do with this. It's a completely different type of game and experience, and frankly didn't really make me feel like I was taking part in the SW universe.
And again, I'm not specifically talking about SP here.

Registered 13 years agoNot bothered about a campaign, I just want to stomp around in an AT-AT and shoot lasers.
typically Star Wars games that try campaigns are a bit shit, and DICE are typically a bit shit at campaigns.

Registered 20 years agoI think I see kalel's point. MP is fine as long as it's MP with a point, a clear link to the SW universe. Rather than MP that happens to have SW bits in it.
E.g Battle of Hoth where you are actively defending the rebel base. Would suit a Rush style game mode. -

Really? I found KOTOR very immersive. I played it near release though, I imagine its aged badly.

What could a developer do to make you more immersed in the universe? -

Registered 16 years agoAh I see what you're saying, and I agree completely. Hopefully they'll take it in that direction (although I'm not holding my breath). -

I didn't say it wasn't immersive. It was a very good game, but the Star Wars theme was somewhat incidental imo once you got past the buzz of having a lightsabre.

Registered 16 years agoDid anyone play Tom Clancy's EndWar? That had a global conquest meta-game where two sides fought each other over the long term. It had a Guild Wars 2 WvWvW-esque weekly reset which tallied up the points and opened up new battles depending on who had pushed who where.
I think a similar concept could work well in this game. -

Registered 15 years agoThis isn't really being made by Dice, it's made by Danger Close who were rebranded as DICE US or something.
Y'know, they who made that awful MoH game. -

As far as I know (I haven't played them) the main issues with the rebooted MoH games were the story and violence. The latter wouldn't be approved by Disney anyway - not in the context of Star Wars - and as for the former...another reason for DICE Sweden to keep focus on the MP rather than SP.

Registered 13 years agoBF2's SP campaign was pretty shallow but surprisingly fun. If I remember correctly you were in a clone trooper battalion that started off as the heroes but of course ended up being merciless stormtroopers. -

Registered 14 years agoI really don't care if this game has a campaign or not. I'd they can nail the online battles, its a day one for me.
I'm just scared that if they do a campaign mode, it might retract from the online mode. I could be wrong however and it UHF have both, and they might both be amazing. I am being hopeful tho -

Registered 11 years agoLooks like DICE Stockholm will be making this and not farmed out to DICEs La developers.

"We don't want Star Wars plus Battlefield," said Bach, "because that would be boring, right?" DICE seemed like the obvious choice to revive the much-troubled Battlefront franchise. Fans weren't the only ones who wanted it. Bach says that "LucasArts wanted us to build a Battlefront game."
"In general, we wouldn't build a game that is a copy of someone else's game," Bach told IGN. "We couldn't do that. We're too stubborn and too annoying for people to think we could do that." Star Wars: Battlefront is still in the earliest of stages at DICE, so it is still "figuring out what we want to build" while it "looks at the history of the Battlefront franchise to reverse engineer it...to find out what it was supposed to be." -

Registered 15 years agoI would actually kinda like a Star Wars themed Battlefield, Hoth would be awesome. But then again, I think everything could be improved by making it Star Wars themed.
However, to make my life complete, I would really, really like TIE Fighter 2. Or just a HD remake plz. -

I was very happy when they announced it. I hope they follow the roots of Battlefront. -
The AT-AT was so great - that's what I'm looking forward to most. I didn't necesssarily excel with the AT-AT, but I loved driving one!
