This looks like it could be an in-game shot, but even if it's just concept art or a target screen, it still looks pretty great.

There's some more concept art and a look at a theme that's released today here.

I'm more inclined to believe that shot than the video that went out. It looks less "shiny".

    The Order 1886: New Details

A link to a CVG article (that sums up a Game Informer article) about a fair few new details on the game, including gameplay, setting, story etc. There's some minor spoilers but nothing huge I would say.

    Sounds promising!

After being revealed that the game will play in cinematic black borders, this actually could ring true now:

"All of the visuals shown in the reveal trailer represent The Order's in-game visual fidelity. The characters seen in the trailer are in-game models, as are the weapon effects and other visual effects"

Whereas I thought it would be pared down.

I don't get what's shocking about them. Looks nice enough even if the environments look a little sparse.

Locations are a bit drab, but I really like the character designs. Here's some proper screen grabs:

I love the idea and the setting, but I do hope it's a little more than just a Gears clone. Throw in a bit of Resi 4 to mix it up a bit.

That is pretty much what you're going to be seeing on screen too. Big black borders framing it top and bottom.

I think partial design decision, partial less pixels to process more pretties decision.

So apparently they were wanting to show footage from this at tomorrow's VGX, but the footage "wasn't ready" in the end.
This seems strange for a game that's gonna be out next year (hopefully) right?

Happy to see a developer choosing, or being allowed to choose by their publisher, to eschew multiplayer in favour of creating the best single player experience possible. The trend of shoehorning it into nearly every single release these days is one of the worst things to come out of the last generation.

The Order in 1080p 30 FPS shock horror :)

Ru Weerasuriya from Ready at Dawn Studios confirmed this in an interview with Play3.

“Currently we do not aim [for] 60 frames per second. In a first person shooter that [surely] makes sense. Also fighting games are undoubtedly predestined for 60 frames. But for us, the cinematic experience is in the foreground [basically focus] – presented in full HD 1080p. In favor of spectacular effects and the highest resolution we restrict ourselves to a fluid 30 frames per second,” he said.

Fanboy discussions over this will be interesting

Think the press embargo lifts on 18th Feb, can't wait to see more of this game

A locked 30fps would be absolutely fine. A top end 30fps that dips into the low 20's any time there is action would be unforgivable.

30fps for that kind of game is fine, I really hope this stupid argument isn't brought up every time a game on either system is announced as 30fps.
