|Had my 360 Elite since 2007 and now seriously thinking of going for a trade in against a PS3. Just getting more and more annoyed with the whole system in general. No wifi, £40 online charge etc. Not bought Live for the last 2 years as it didn't seem worth it. Only thing putting me off is the thought of losing items I've bought but even that doesn't seem like a big deal now. Would I be gaining a better experience if i went ahead with this ? I think I can get £60 trade in at Game which is the only shop near me that does trade ins. I'd probably go online more with it I'm sure. And is Home a good thing or just pointless ? Cheers in advance|
Trade in 360 for PS3
Pageof 4 First / Last
What's the question?
I think the PlayStation plus thing as got me thinking about it more. Sounds like a great deal but I'm usually quite sceptical about this type of thing and just keep wondering if it's too good to be true. The other thing I was unsure about is what size to go for. I know u need to install the games but I was hoping I could get away with a 160gb. Wondering if it fills up really quickly .

You would nearly fill 160GB with the current crop of freebies on PS+.
It's well worth it, just wish I'd signed up earlier.
After years of 360 use I find it a great console. Very refreshing.

Made a thread but perhaps this question sits better here:
Just as the next generation of shiny boxes is about to arrive I'm looking to pick up PS3 to replace my 360 to catch up on a few titles I'm itching play - Last Of Us, Journey, Ni No Kuni in particular.
I use my 360 a lot to watch Netflix, Lovefilm and Now TV and the Xbox 360 S model I've got is almost silent, are any PS3 models as quiet? If not, what's the quietest?

Home was always a bit of a toy, other than that, dive in!
I think having both consoles is great. The 360 has always been my mainstay and continues to be so, however the PS3 seems to be getting better all the time. PS+ is a must in my book, and just stunning value.
LIVE still pisses all over PSN from a great height however.
The end of the current gen* is looking mighty fine
My last 3 played games are:
Last of us
...it is a good job I have both machines
Make sure you play:
*I have around 3 years of backlog, so my consoles will be around for a long while yet.
Cheers for the replies. I'm starting to sway to the ps3 now. Just one more thing regarding these freebies u get with PS+, do u still get access to the games if for example u decide not to renew your sub the following year, or is it only while your subscribed?
when you subscribe only.
I'm trying to find someone to swap their PS3 for my 360 as we speak. I regret selling it.

Get a ps3, I got one last weekend and have 11 games downloaded through ps+. Currently playing UC3. I had a 360 for years so now is a great time to play some ps3 titles.
Getting rid if my ps3 and keeping my 360 was the daftest thing I've done in gaming. What a pointless console these days.
I never get these threads.
If you like your 360 and play it, fine. If you like your PS3 and play it, fine. If you like both, fine. The opposite of any of these? Fine.
But why on earth does anyone give a shit?
For a real question...
What's the best way to trade a 360 slim for a ps3 in terms of value for money?
What's the de facto ps3 model at the moment?
And lastly, are there any good 3rd party ps3 controllers with sticks more aligned like the 360 controller?
Thinking about taking a trip to CEX next week and trading in the 360 for a Vita. Looks like I'll have to pay about £30.
If you're pissed off at the 360 and fancy sampling what the PS3 has to offer, then I reckon go for it.
I'll have to disagree with Duffman (sorry Duffman!) and say PSN is fine for gaming; true that it doesn't have the same bells and whistles as Live, but the important bit (playing games) works fine. 250 hours of Bad Company 2 multiplayer tells me this!
Most of the differences are a lot smaller between the multiplats than what the raging in internet will tell you. There are some genuine dogs on PS3 (Bayonetta), but the majority aren't that different.
You can't install games to the hard drive like the 360 (probably my fave thing about the console, I can barely tell it's on at times), although a lot of games do require installs, you'll still hear the disc being accessed from time to time. I found Red Dead unplayable as it made my PS3 sound like a typwriter, but that title was poorly optimised for the console, and mines getting old, so probably not in the best of condition.
Home (IMO, of course) is rubbish, but you may enjoy it!
PS+ is definitely worth it, especially to a new owner as you'll have a load of titles for the price of a new game (that all play quietly from hard disc too) to keep you going.
I went for it ! Traded in my elite with a speed wheel, extra controller and about 30 games. Got just over £159 which let me get a PS3 slim 160gb, with Metal gear 4, Littlebigplanet 2 and a 30 day trial for PS+. Also gave me an extended warranty of another year and I got The Last of Us for £20 in a deal as I was getting the console I think. Only needed to put £7 towards it all. Nipped next door to cash gen and then got Uncharted 2 for £4.99. Love new console day ! . I'd also forgot I'd bought games on my PSP ages ago like FFVII and realised I could download them too !
These unofficial 360 like controllers were selling for £12 in my local Sainsbury's store yesterday when I picked up the Last of Us, compared to the DS3 I wanted was still at £40, so might be worth a look in stores for some pad deals.
If you want a PS3, go second hand/Ebay.
With months to go before the PS4 I'm sure you can live without a genuine new console, and you'll save a lot of money going down this route.
Unless you absolutely hate buying used stuff you won't find a better deal in GAME or wherever.
Then get all your games of PS+ and Lovefilm.
Personally I'm just interested in single player games. I ditched my XBLG sub about a year ago and have never felt the urge to renew it.
There's a bunch of games on PS3 that I've just watched from the sidelines, and with nothing interesting to me on 360 in the future I'd like to play them.
@steve242526 Where did you trade?
Also I'm looking for new, but I'm willing to trade in my 360 Slim.
I saw these 2 on play.com, can anyone explain the price difference?
Sony PlayStation 3 PS3 Slim Console With 320GB HDD £279.89
Sony PlayStation 3 PS3 Super Slim Console With 500GB HDD £197
That's quite a big difference. Does the Slim have some kind of benefit over the Super Slim, or is it just some quirk of stock rarity?

L0cky wrote:It's often possible to grab a 12GB (HDDless) PS3 for around £130 (currently £140 at a few places), which you can upgrade with a 2.5" HDD easily enough (look out for bargains for, say, 1TB for less than £50, or 3TB for about £100).
What's the de facto ps3 model at the moment?
Confusingly GAME list a PS3 Slim but show a picture and video of a Super Slim. What are the actual models?

@L0cky I traded it all at Game. Not my fave shop but with HMV shut in Scotland, its really the only place on our high street. The deal I went for was £149 for 120gb and a choice of 2 , 2 for 20 games. I then noticed that for an extra £10 I could upgrade for the 160gb so went for that. Not really going to get chance to play much tonite but I tried littlebigplanet and got my settings up and running. Its great to finally have a WiFi enabled console !
Here you go, a 120GB Slim (plus an extra controller, a headset and 6 old games) has just gone for £123.
