Fair enough, just seems hypocritical - for example, plenty of other foods contain battery farm-sourced eggs so you could be still supporting intensive farming. Doesn't really take a lot of effort to look into the source of your food.
It depends what my stance is as to whether it's hypocritical, surely? I just try to avoid unnecessarily cruel foods as and when I can, basically. It helps that I cook from scratch so I don't have to worry why Tescos Value meat product #1736 is only 15p.

I've tried a few strange things but I draw the line at brains.

The problem is really that if you go far enough down that rabbithole you become a veggie, and so most people prefer to either Hugh Fernley-Whittinstall their own animal husbandry guidelines, or bury their head in the sand.
What annoys me is that the very same people who get all upset when they hear about whaling or whatever will happily buy shit, intensively-farmed meat without really giving it any thought at all. Have some fucking consistency!

I'd try braaaaainz, but the one thing I'd hesitate to do is putting cooked goat penises in my mouth.

I actually think I would try human. As long it was free-range human of course.

Ah, I suspect this is the combination of me over-selling my upset..ness of whaling and underselling how much I care I take in buying food. I'd rather cook myself a nice veggie meal than buy the cheap meats/ready meals just because I have a hankering for protein, which is why I don't worry about it as much.

It may appear that way, but I can assure you that this is my long standing stance on the issue :)

    Fine if its raw though?
If it's still working, of course, yes.

Insects are very energy rich (taking into account their size off course) and are cheap to farm with minimal environmental footprint. Could very well be the food of the future.

I'd probably eat human before trying an insect.

In answer to the original question, "Would you try anything once?" the answer is no, because that would be stupid.
This is in the food section of the forum and I tried to make it clear in my OP, but maybe I should have the word food somewhere in the title.

Have tried whale in Reykjavik, was alright but nothing special. Was not a popular choice with my other half but she was at least relieved they were out of puffin (my original choice)

At a Michelin star place I had 'head to toe sheep' which included brain and testicles. Brain was disgusting and tasted exactly how I imagined brain to taste- the texture was just not right. I was full of bravado but simply couldn't bring myself to try the testicles once they were in front of me.

Even though I'll make myself feel sick for asking, but what was the brain texture and taste like?
