Registered 16 years agoI am fairly sure everyone knows it refers to 'mens singles win'. Bit awkward and a a waste of space in the headline unless you have been living under a rock. -

Registered 20 years agoAnyone British who pays attention to the sport knows about Wade. And she's constantly commentating on the game, with her success always being mentioned. I grew up with her as one of the faces of British tennis.
The article is inflammatory; a bored writer.

Registered 20 years agoAnd hence my first comment. But the writer is clearly trying to start a fire by moronically declaring she has been wiped from history.

Woah there defensive tennis fans! Blimey...
It's got a tad of sensationalism to it but there's definitely a point to be made. It's partly about sexism, but actually for me it's more about the media narrative, and how they've injected more drama into the whole thing by hitting the 77 number hard.
And yes, that's a little unfair on Wade, let alone the other three British female winners since Perry who have actually virtually been erased from history. -

Wow, if you were going to parody a Guardian article that would be it. Hats off to them for doing it themselves. -
Its especially weird since Tennis is a womans sport. You would think they would remember their own.
