Because when there is a war of over 500 comments on something like consoles... it takes ages to load every single comment in the same page.

I stopped looking at the comments when this new "improved" site came in. Not being able to scroll to comment 100 where you left the discussion off, and rather having to slowly scroll past 20 comments... wait, scroll another 20... wait... etc is really poor.

Much better to just have all load at once, or alternately have the old way of "click here for comments 50-100, 101-150 etc.

Or even better "click here for comments" which goes to a separate page. I don't know if that'd help the OP but hiding comments would be a service to humanity.

Sometimes it'll continuously show a certain comment as being the last submitted (say... comment 100), even though there were a number submitted since.

EG is in the stone age. It reminds me of where I used to work - our "updated" software was still 5 years behind everyone else.
