Um?
Superman and Batman are to appear in the same film for the first time, -

The only time it's ever made a lick of sense is when there's (over)emotion involved (Supergirl)
Batman/superman team ups generally rely on the writer ignoring supermans 'super genius' and giving him 'super downs syndrome' in order to make batman relevant. -

Man of Steel is the dullest super hero film I've seen. How many times do you need to see someone fly through something and come out unscathed, much less throwing other super humans through stuff. That and the first act's 'acting' was so coarsely wooden.

Registered 11 years agoTo be fair Marvel were able to have Hawkeye and Black Widow hang with aliens in a fairly believable mannor and they are only humans, so if shot well enough it could work in a movie sense.
Hell we all know Batmans origin so he could all ready be established (Wayne Tech satallite clarifies Wayne at least exists) therefore could have his own iron man batsuit all ready or something. Have Kryptonite weaken Superman to Zods minions level and can have an exciting fight to the quality of the one Sups had with the two people in the small town(best fight in film). Imagine Iron Man in that exact fight instead of Sups and you'd still buy it as believable, so Bats in a suit is no different (could've been preparing incase Sups went rogue since his fight with Zod since we don't know how long after Man Of Steel the next movie would take place). -

If they do fight, it should be over in seconds.
Unless kryptonite.
Invinceable protagonist with one glaring weakness. Lazy screen writers apply here. -

Registered 17 years agoWell, it's not like they'll do anything clever with it anyway.
As it's going to be full-steam ahead on JLA, they may even throw in another character cameo ready for a solo film afterwards. -
Idris Elba as Batman. -

Well if they fight they'll just follow the same formula the comics etc have for years, no way will they finally do something different. Just pointing out that it can work in a believable movie fashion. Personally I wouldn't bother bringing them together in first place, things always go bad in Bat movies when he get's a costumed friend.
All you've done there is the classic 'oh look now Superman is like, really weak, which is how we can do this'.
Boring. -

Registered 17 years agoEveryone's so clever and funny with their theories about how they're going to have to limit Superman in some way.
Not to mention the predictions of the film's quality and writing. Everyone's just so clever and insightful.

Are they not "teaming" up? -
Yeah I'm with morriss.
It will almost certainly follow the same formula as every Batman/Supes story ever (some variation on enemies united by common cause ending in success and mutual respect/friendship). So what? Not one superhero film (with perhaps the exception of Watchmen) has had anything like an original plot, but many are still successful movies. I don't have massively high hopes, but it could be good fun.
Also only boring people think Superman is boring. Fact. -

Maybe they could have Superman 64 vs. Arkham Asylum/City. -

Because many of the summer blockbusters since 1977 have been trying to replicate the simple Star Wars formula. They meet, they fight each other or bicker, make up and then save the universe as we know it.
Why to they have to figth?
The worst example of this model being The Avengers Assembled (imo). The best, probably Star Trek (2009). -

Suppose Luthor will be in this rebuilding the city, Bruce Wayne is an investor or something but finds out Luthor is doing bad stuff under the guise of rebuilding using criminals to get some things done who Batman runs into. Superman early on buddies up with Luthor but can't see his evil side but Bruce does.
Batman knows he can't let Superman be swayed so finds Kryptonite while trying to figure a way to defeat him, unfortunately Luthor finds out because of this.
There will be a scrap between Batman and Superman as they cross paths in the search for kryptonite but for Superman, unwanted attention on his past from Bruce Wayne. Batman realises what it does when he gets confronted and there is a small punch up. The distrust between Batman and Superman begins and with his weakness in the hands of Luthor, only Batman can save Superman in the end.
